Room 324, Saturday Morning

Kate was a Prom Queen. That... had just come out of nowhere, and made her very giddy and happy for the rest of the evening. The cherry on top of an already fantastic senior prom night.

And Kate was still happy when she woke up on Saturday morning, oblivious to any obvious changes that had happened overnight. Sure, there were probably other interesting things in the room as well, but the first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was the tiara on the nightstand, and it wasn't more than half a minute until she'd grabbed it and perched it on top of her head before standing up on the bed and declaring, loudly, to no one in particular, "Imma queen!"

Really, she probably would've done that even if she had been about ten years older like she was supposed to be.

Bod got to work scooping up the ice cream while he glanced over his shoulder at her. "And what if I'm a king?"

Kate laughed. "But you're not!"

"And how do you know?" Bod asked, walking over and handing her the bowl of ice cream. "I could be."

"Duh, you don't have a crown!" Kate pointed out, greedily taking the bowl from him. "What kinda king dun't have a crown?"

"Maybe I lost it," he said, settling down beside her. "I'm a little absentminded, you see. I think I left my crown in my room."

"You're lying," Kate decided. "Alice says it's impolite to lie."

She'd probably said something about talking with a mouth full of ice cream, too, but Kate was conveniently forgetting that right now.

"Wait, how do you know I'm lying?" Bod asked, raising an eyebrow. "Isn't it impolite to accuse someone of lying like that?"

"Nuh uh." She shook her head. "Either you're lying or you're a bad king, cuz a king isn't s'posed to lose his crown."

"But, I didn't lose it, I just left it in my room," Bod pointed out, shaking his head. "Maybe I didn't want to get it messy."

"How would it have gotten messy?" Kate wondered. "My crown was right there on the little table!"

"Well, what if it had fallen in the ice cream?" Bod asked, glancing down at the bowl. "What then?"

"But it won't," Kate argued. "And even if it did, I'd jus' clean it up and it'd be fine!"

"Still, it could happen and you'd have to agree that I'd be a rather bad king if I let that happen," Bod told her with a shrug.

Kate pouted at him. "You're just being pessitismic." Or however that word went.

[therewaslife]

"And you're being suspicious," Bod countered.

[vanillajello]

"I'm allowed."

Ooh, good one.

[therewaslife]

"No, you're not." Bod shook his head at her. "You're not allowed."

Kate gasped. "Am too!" she argued. "Mommy says I shouldn't believe everything people tell me!"

"Does that mean you don't trust me?" Bod asked, trying to frown adorably at her.

Sorry, she was immune to his adorableness. A benefit of being too tiny to care about adorable grownups. "I dun have to believe you jus' because I trust you."

"Well, that's unfortunate," Bod said, sighing. "I guess you'll just have to be wrong and I'll just have to live with that."

"You're dumb," Kate decided. She ate her ice cream in silence for a moment, then seemingly at random came out with the question, "Can we go out to the park later? I wanna climb a tree."

"You just called me dumb," Bod pointed out, raising an eyebrow. "Why should I take you to the park now?"

"Because you liiiike me?" Kate tried. "I'll let you climb a tree too."

"But, why would you want to be with someone who you think is dumb?" Bod wondered, eyebrow still up.
