"Yeah, well, Mom needs to take Aunt Charmaine to an appointment later," kate pointed out, "so she needs to be back by then, or it's gonna be your job to take Char. We clear?"

Buck gave her a slightly noncommittal shrug, and Luke a halfassed salute. "Adios, kiddos," he said, then ambled on his way.
