Abigail & Hannibal's Place, Sunday

Kate felt awful. Her head hurt, although she was glad she was only feeling a little pukey. Mostly when standing up, which she obviously had to do just about first thing after waking up, because she needed to take something for her head. So, she made her unsteady way into the kitchen and found her bag and the painkillers that she'd been wise to equip herself with before coming here last night.

She also found her phone, and on her said phone, she found a text from Bod (hoping she wasn't going to be feeling badly this morning) and a voicemail. Running water from the tap, she brought the phone to her ear to listen to the latter.

And then she was left standing with her mouth open because it was Luke. Who she'd pretty much assumed was dead, yes. Except now he wasn't and seriously, should she just not trust the finality of death anymore? ... And seriously, was no one who came back from certain death going to actually tell her in person? Because this voicemail and text message stuff was getting old.

Why yes, Kate Gregson's most prominent emotion at getting her friend back was pure annoyance. She'd probably blame that on the hangover later, but right now she was frowning a lot, and calling Luke back.

Luke wasn't hungover this morning because, surprise of all surprises, he didn't drink last night. He blamed the fact that Percy didn't drink much.

So he was actually in a fairly good mood when he picked up the phone, even after seeing who it was. "Hello."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Was that not something I should have done?" Luke asked, more than happy with playing stupid.

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will definitely keep that in mind for the future," he said, even if he knew very well what he did was wrong. "It felt kind of weird showing up randomly. It took me long enough just to make the phone call. Not something I've ever had to do before."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah that was another issue," Luke said even if he hadn't thought about that. That would have been a legitimate excuse rather than just owning up to being an idiot. Dammit.

"I really am sorry," he said. "I've been all over the place mentally since I've gotten back."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Little over a week," he said. "Didn't really make my first public appearance until Friday though--aside from Percy's room, I mean."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm really not too sure. Sometimes it's almost like nothing has happened which is...slightly worrying," he said. "And then other times it's super awkward, like he's afraid of initiating anything. He doesn't trust me. Which is legitimate, I guess."

He had no idea how he was gonna fix the whole trust issue.

"There's certain stuff I can't tell him without screwing up the future and he knows that. I think it annoys him even if he's not saying anything about it."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Massive, massive timeline issues. The fate of the world is literally dependent on Percy making the right decision about something," Luke said. "Which I realize sounds horrifying, but in my timeline at least, he did choose correctly."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're probably better off not knowing, but I'll tell you stuff if you want," Luke said. He felt kind of alone dealing with this stuff, though he was grateful that Anakin was there to hear him out and not say anything to anybody else. "I trust you not to say anything."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay then," he said, taking a deep breath. "Percy's gonna have to help me kill myself. That's why I don't want him knowing beforehand, I'm afraid he'll hesitate and not do it."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Died? Yeah," he said, the words sounding weird even to him. It still wasn't something he was used to. "It had to happen. A prophecy deemed it so or something."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, no, I'm back to my old demigod self. Nico brought me back," Luke said. "Which actually really pissed Apollo off. He ended up zapping me back to Fandom before I could see what happened to Nico, but it wasn't good whatever he did 'cause I haven't seen him since."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess." Luke couldn't help but feel massively guilty about it. "I wouldn't have minded staying dead. I'm happy to be alive now, don't get me wrong, but I died on my own terms. He shouldn't have brought me back."

Nothing he could do about it now.

"At least I'm being hailed as a hero back home," he said lightly. " I can't ever go back there again but it still is a nice ego boost."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh right, that did sound weird if you weren't there. "So you know the guy that I teamed up with and turned out to be a big asshole was Kronos, right? Well, he wanted a human form and he volunteered me for the job and I was kind of forced to take it."

This sounded completely ridiculous, even to himself.

"So we shared a body for about a year, and he was calling the shots the entire time," Luke continued. "That is until I started learning how to take back control of my body. So in the end killing myself ended up destroying him too and stopped the war."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was a year sharing a body with Kronos. Honestly, death was the better option compared to that," Luke told her. "But I was gone longer than that. I'm twenty-three now. And Percy's already made fun of me for it, don't worry."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," he said, smiling slighly. "I'm glad I'm not dead. Well, not anymore. And I don't have any drama to worry about at home now either. Now all I have to worry about is regular mortal stuff and, well, Percy. Always Percy."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I missed you too," he said. "We should probably arrange to see each other sometime soon so you can see my handsome face again."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
"You're still living with your aunt?" Luke asked. "I thought you were leaving the country."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"You're a stewardess?" Luke...did not see that coming.

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Well congratulations," he said, smiling to himself. "That's actually pretty cool. Minus the possibility of little kids throwing up on you, of course."

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Well if you ever find that you're doubting yourself you can always remember that I'm a twenty-three year old junior in high school," Luke said. Not that he thought he looked it, despite what Percy said.

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's not as bad as it sounds," Luke said. "Well, okay, I kind of exploded so that part hurt but the actual dying part wasn't too bad. Like falling asleep."

That was a little morbid but, hey, it was the truth.
