Kate should've known she was alone in the narrow bed as soon as she was woken up by the alarm on her phone. But her face was half buried in Bod's pillow and his scent was everywhere and she was too sleepy to notice anything amiss before she opened her eyes.

And even then she just thought he'd gone off somewhere. Maybe to the bathroom. So she just got her phone with minimal effort (rolling on the bed and scrambling with one hand to reach for it from her bag on the floor), turned it off, and waited.

And waited. And then waited some more, getting increasingly annoyed. If Bod was going to just take off, he should at least have woken her up! Seriously, what the fuck was up with leaving like that? She was still holding her phone, so it didn't take a lot of effort to call him, ready to be bitchy and snappy.

... And then Bod's phone went off on the other side of the alcove.

That got Kate to push herself up to a sitting position, frowning. And then she saw his shoes on the floor. That... didn't seem like such a good thing. She slipped out of bed and got dressed quickly.

She had a boyfriend to look for.
