Jelly Bean Living Room, Friday Morning

The radio last night had confirmed what Kate's futile attempts at reaching her friends over the phone had already made her think. They were gone. Vanished. Not here.

That hadn't stopped her from checking out Gobstopper cabin a little earlier this morning, though. Just in the vain hope that things might have returned to normal. That Bod might have come back.

But no. Of course not. The island wasn't done screwing with them yet. As evident from the giant roaches she'd had to evade on her way.

She had seen Kyle's note, though. That gave her some hope.

Kate hadn't made up her mind about where to go, yet – it was either the manor or the school, really – but that wasn't stopping her from stuffing her backpack with useful things right about now.

She sure as hell wasn't staying here.

[ooc: Open, to those few who live here (no seriously, I think it's just Kate, Ariel and K-Mart now), or anyone who'd like to knock on the door.]

Ariel was definitely trying her best not to freak out and, while she wasn't doing too poorly on that, her head felt like it was just a mess. If they were sharks or things like that, maybe she might feel a little bit better, but she knew absolutely nothing about scary land things and that could be a little intimidating. So when she saw the notes and started planning getting to where everyone else might be, she grabbed her bag, a few choice dinglehoppers, and headed to the living room to scrounge around for whatever else might be good tool to help her out.

Because she knew herself and she knew how easily distracted she could be, she wanted to be supplied to the teeth.

Still, when she burst into the living room with probably way too much force and saw someone there, she jumped about a mile in surprise at first, and then could only slump slightly in incredible relief to see that it was Kate.

Ariel winced, biting her lip as her brows furrowed in an apologetic expression. She waved her hands in front of her a little, the best way she had to really say It's just me, it's okay! even though Kate clearly already knew that, but it was also a way to emphasize the I'm sorry, I'm sorry! she couldn't exactly just say.

Pfft. Ariel let out a breath of complete agreement, followed by a heavy sigh and a shake of her own head. She took a second to pass a worried glance over the very empty living room, tried not to think of the equally empty cabin behind her.

She lifted her bag, to show that she was collecting supplies before heading out, and then nodded toward Kate's own bag. Same thinking?

Ariel nodded, considering this carefully, before shifting through her bag for her notepad and pen.

"Which is closer?" she wondered in writing, because that seemed a fairly good detail from her view.

Ariel's next question was going to be which might have more people, but, of course, neither of them had anyway of knowing that, unless Kate was secretly psychic, but a secret psychic would probably have been more prepared, she figured.

"Maybe," she wrote, "we should split up. One to one place, the other to the other, and if the one place looks bad, we can hightail it to the other one..."

She had written that after a moment of thought, one that had her arriving at the school, only to find it empty except for some fascinating and strange creature that she, obviously, had to bravely fight though she was not at all well equipped or experienced for such encounters. Of course, in this vision, Ariel totally won all the same, and the adventure of it all took the best of her to suggest this plan of action, despite the fact that everyone knew you didn't split up.

Ariel's adventurous spirit wrinkled its nose in reluctant agreement with Kate's point, and she nodded her head as she said goodbye to images of completely blazing her glory by herself. That was fine, though. Maybe the glory would be even better with Kate there to add to it, right?

"Manor, then?" she asked. "We at least know of one other person there..."

Ariel extracted the handful of forks and a softball from sports class that she'd shoved into her bag and frowned, because they didn't seem like the greatest weapons in the world. So she gave a quick look around the cabin and, never one to avoid destruction if it could be helpful, reached for a chair around the table and promptly smashed it on the floor enough that she could pull off a leg from it, which she then brandished with a helpful sort of pride.

Much better.

Ariel, really, wasn't afraid to break stuff even when something wasn't on the line, so the fact that she had good reason just made it all the better.

Ariel...didn't have anything like that, but, with a nod, she bounced over to the cupboards and the refrigerator and, quickly, after a moment to decide what might be the most helpful, shoveled as much of it as could fit into her bag as she could. Then she hoisted her table leg up again and gave a slight thumbs up.

She was feeling kind of grateful for Kate being there, for catching her before she left. She would have otherwise just bolted out of there unprepared, but now she felt ready.

Ariel nodded, giving Kate a smile that she hoped would be reassuring, because, together, they could definitely do this, no doubt about it, and took a moment to secure her bag over her shoulder before heading toward the door.
