Room 324, Late Thursday Morning

Yeah, so, last night had been fun. If you were a masochist and thought messed up weather coupled with a stupid fire drill was fun, which Kate didn't. Bod had had to half carry her up to her room and help her out of her wet clothes before she'd fallen in bed and dozed off into deep sleep pretty damn fast.

And deep sleep was where she'd stayed until just now. She wasn't even sure why she was already waking up now, but she was. And maybe it wasn't so bad: she needed a shower, and breakfast, and she'd planned to actually get her ass down to the salle today, and there was other crap that she was supposed to do as well. Waking up would have actually been a good idea.

... Kate just shifted a bit and clung to Bod some more. Five more minutes. Just five more minutes.

This time, Bod was asleep too. He had no classes today and no real pressing need to be up early and when he was warm and with someone he'd missed as much as he had her, there was just no need to get himself up early.

When she clung to him a little more, he stretched against her and sighed, dozing comfortably in her bed. It was good to be dry still.

Being dry and warm and skin to skin was really kind of superior to being wet and tired and miserable. And Kate was trying to get those feelings to help her cling to sleep as much as she was clinging to him (with a leg tangled up with one of his and an arm draped over him) but to no avail. She was waking up.

With a sigh, she opened her eyes. At least she got to look at him, and that made her smile, drowsily.

And she'd continue to get to look at him because being awake wasn't coming for him as fast as it had come to her. He shifted a little closer to her and sighed, a little closer to waking up then he had been but not quite there yet.

Kate wasn't going to rush him, not yet. It was too nice to look at him when he didn't know she was doing it. She'd missed being able to, and she was committing details to memory.

Eventually, Bod's eyes slipped open and he blinked blearily up at her. For a second, he didn't realize where he was but it all came back to him fairly quickly and he smiled before rubbing an uncoordinated hand against his eyes.

"You're staring at me," he mumbled, voice still thick with sleep.

"I'm watching you," Kate corrected him softly, quietly, with a smile. "There's a difference."

"Whoever told you that is completely wrong," Bod said, smiling a bit because he knew he'd said that a time or two before.

"Mmhmm," Kate replied, amused, because she knew that too. She brought her hand up to stroke his cheek. "Nice job calling yourself wrong, there."

"Shush, you weren't supposed to remember that," he said, turning his face into her cheek and closing his eyes again. "Have you been awake long?"

"Five minutes," she said, flattening her palm against his cheek. "Something like that. I would've woken you up if it had been longer. Did you sleep okay?"

"I did," he said, opening his eyes again and looking a little more awake. "Did you?"

"Yes," Kate nodded. "I was very comfortable, it was good."

And she hadn't expected anything else either, really.

"That's good to hear," he said, stretching again and finally seeming to come all the way awake. "Considering how fast you fell asleep last night, I'm not surprised but it's good to hear."

"Hey, I was tiiired," she replied, jokingly defensive. "I was pretty much already asleep outside."

[therewaslife]

"I remember," he laughed, shaking his head. "I very nearly had to put you over my shoulder and carry you upstairs. You could barely walk. It was like someone or something had woken you up and made you get out of bed."

You know, like a fire drill.

That wasn't lost on Kate, no. "Yeah, funny how you can give off that impression when a fire drill has woken you up and made you get out of bed," she drawled, shaking her head. "But, you know. Thanks for joining me. And taking care of me."

"Always," he said sincerely. "Are you relaxed and rested in preparation for the day ahead? I'd assume that prom preparations are still taking place?"

"Mh, I need to figure out what to do with my hair," Kate sighed, like it was a chore, and pulled her hand away from his cheek to run it through her shaggy hair instead. "And what jewelry to wear. And I was gonna go do knife practice today."

One of those things was not like the others.

"Knife practice...doesn't have anything to do with the prom, does it?" If it did, he'd severely missed the this year's theme.

[vanillajello]

"Nope," she snorted. "Well, not unless you count it as part of my fitness regime and think of it as making sure I'll be fit at prom."

[therewaslife]

"Oh. Good," he said and patted his chest. "I was wondering how I'd missed the theme of the prom so badly and got slightly worried that I was going to have to carry a weapon of some kind."

[vanillajello]

"I am sure it'll be business as usual and weapons won't be allowed," Kate assured him, nodding. "No worries there. And I would let you hold my knife if you didn't have one of your own, any day."

[therewaslife]

"I do have one," he shared, nodding. "Katniss gave it to me when we were both stuck in that...place. I haven't given it back but I haven't used it since then either."

[vanillajello]

"Oh. I... did not know that." Probably evident from the mild look of surprise on her face. "I guess that's good."

[therewaslife]

"It wasn't something I'd shared with you so it's not surprising," he said and looked apologetic. "I'm sorry. I just didn't want to think about why I had that knife and what I'd used it for. It was still a raw subject for me."
