Room 502, Monday, Around Period 2

Kate woke up cold. She wasn't going to blame Bod for that; the ice age thing (not that she was aware of that yet) was kind of a surprise, and no one could've expected him to remember to turn up the heat for her, when she'd still been a cat with plenty of fur when he'd left.

She wasn't one anymore, obviously. No, she was a naked girl curled up awkwardly on his bed, and she was shivering as she woke up. That alone was enough to urge her to get up and stumble over to his dresser for a pair of his shorts and a shirt, and then after a moment's hesitation, also an ill-fitting pair of jeans and a sweater. Sure, it looked beyond ridiculous with the way the clothes were hanging on her thin frame but whatever, she wanted to get warmed up quickly.

Sufficiently clothed, Kate padded over to look over the stuff on Bod's desk, hoping to find something to eat. Human food was kind of a craving right now.

"No, you have a large ego," he said, locking the door and kicking his shoes off before he made his way over to the bed. Leaning down, he smiled at her. "Why are you denying something that I love you for?"

Kate tried looking up at him all innocent and unassuming, but the expression gave way to a much more familiar, much more genuine smirk soon enough. "Because I love hearing you describe me like that."

"You like hearing that I like your ego?" Bod checked, reaching to brush some of her soft hair across her forehead. "Or you like hearing that I love things about you?"

"Both," Kate replied, closing her eyes despite herself when he touched her. Just to enjoy it a bit more. "I like that you like my ego. I also like that you love things about me in general."

"I love your ego and I love many, many things about you," Bod said, tracing his finger down her face and over her lips.

"Would be unfortunate if you didn't," she murmured, quietly, as if to not disturb what he was doing. "Since I'm your girlfriend and everything. Do you even love that I seem to turn into a cat on some fucked up schedule?"

"Yes, I even love that," he replied, tracing a heart on one of her cheeks before finally moving to crawl in beside her. "I like that you're unpredictable and I like that you can sometimes become a cat without warning, amusing me and giving yourself feline experiences."

"You love that sometimes I depend on you," Kate countered as she opened her eyes again. "And basically miss work to just spend the entire day sleeping in your bed."

"Even as a cat, you're very independent," Bod pointed out, settling down on his back and gesturing her closer. "I like that you let me help you and take care of you but I know you can take care of yourself too."

"True," she admitted, as she scooted closer, draping an arm over his chest. "But I like when you take care of me."

"I like when you let me take care of you," Bod replied, sighing and smiling over at her. "I like when you take care of me too. I've never forgotten how good you were when I came back from that place. I never will."

"Yeah, I was a real wannabe nurse back then," Kate replied, wryly. She shook her head, just a little bit. "Too tired to really freak out over what I was doing."

"You were exactly what I needed," Bod said, pressing a kiss against the top of her head. "You were forceful when you needed to be, gentle and honest. You didn't try and make me think things were better than they were."

"That would've been too hard, anyway," Kate murmured. "I mean, it was pretty obvious things were shitty. Very, very shitty."

"They were but I appreciated that you didn't try and tell me things were going to be all right," Bod said, smiling. "I knew things would eventually be all right but they weren't right there and I appreciate the honesty."

[vanillajello]

"Well, you picked someone who's shit at sugarcoating things," she noted, cuddling up closer to him. "Guess you lucked out there. And we made it through, and I didn't even need to sit on you to keep you from being stupid and walking around."

"You didn't," he laughed, giving her a tighter squeeze both in gratitude and because he wanted to hold her tighter. "You got me through that situation, Kate, that aftermath. Thank you."

"I had no choice," she snorted. "That's when I first realized I loved you, remember? I had no choice but to make sure you made it through all that okay. That was totally selfish of me."

"I remember." He remembered it vividly. "I just want you to know and remember that no matter what might happen, no matter how bad situations might get, you're the one that got me through that and kept me from losing myself. That was you."

[vanillajello]

"Mm." Kate nuzzled his shoulder for want of a better response. "I might say you make me sound way better than I am, but you'd just tell me that's how it is and I just don't see me like you see me."

"That's exactly what I'd tell you, yes," he said, smiling. "In this case, my opinion of you is complete fact."

"Fact, hmm?" she asked, glancing up at him. "Someone has a very high opinion of himself."

Bod shrugged. "You're an amazing person. That's a fact."

"And yet it took a you a loooong time to figure that out," she teased. "Or, well, it took you a while to admit that you thought that."

"Oh, that was just for teasing purposes," Bod laughed, shaking his head. "I just wanted to tease you and liked that you tried to convince me you were amazing."
