Henderson's Wharf Inn, Baltimore, Saturday

Kate and Bod's search for a hotel that was fancy but not way out of their league had led them to the Inn at Henderson's Wharf in Baltimore. The room appealed to Kate, and the view of the harbor was amazing, so she thought it had been a fine choice.

Not that that had been the point of this little trip. It was more to get away from everyone else and be a couple and relax. And to maybe talk about things that were bothering her, but she hadn't really gotten to that yet. She'd wanted to just have a fun night and ignore everything for a while, first. Save the heavy stuff.

The night was over now, though, and it was morning. Kate was awake, but lazy, still sprawling over Bod like she tended to. She sighed, and thought absently about getting up.

Maybe it could still wait.

Bod was mostly awake as well. He'd been dozing lightly for awhile, soaking up Kate's warmth and enjoying her closeness while being lazy.

When she sighed, his eyes blinked open and he looked down at her, giving her a sleepy morning smile.

"Hi," Kate said, quietly, smiling back at him a little bit. "Good morning."

"Good morning," Bod returned softly. "Did you sleep all right?"

"Yeah." Better than she had all week, pretty much. She yawned, then asked, "You?"

"I did," he said, running his fingers over her hair and sighing. "I slept very well. It was nice to sleep with you again."

[vanillajello]

"It so was," Kate agreed. Emphatically. "You smell nice and you're warm. I've missed that, I really have."

[therewaslife]

"I'm sorry we haven't seen each other much lately," Bod said quietly. "I've missed you incredibly badly too. This was needed."

[vanillajello]

"Oh, you have no idea," Kate replied, sighing. "This was so ridiculously needed it's not even funny."

[therewaslife]

"Does that mean you're feeling a bit better?" Bod asked quietly. "I hope you are."

[vanillajello]

"Somewhat, yeah," she said, and nuzzled his chest a bit. Because she wanted to. "You are the cure to some things, boyfriend. A warm, naked cure."

"And what if I told you I'd put my shorts back on at some point during the night?" he asked, teasing her because he wanted her to laugh.

She could rest assured that he was still naked, yes.

Kate laughed. She was wonderfully predicatble like that.

"You realize that's very easily verifiable, right?"

[therewaslife]

"And is there enough doubt in your mind to check?" Bod wondered curiously.

[vanillajello]

"Maaaybe," Kate replied, in a singsong voice. "In a minute. Perhaps."

Shut up, she was lazy.

"I'll look forward to that, then," Bod decided with a little laugh. "Are you planning on utter laziness today?"

[vanillajello]

"Yes." Wasn't she always? "Well, at least I'm not intending to get out of bed anytime soon. If I'm active, it'll be confined here for the time being."

"Did you want me to get up and get you some breakfast?" Bod asked, sliding his fingers through her hair. "Or something to drink?"

[vanillajello]

"Noooo," Kate whined, and lazily clung to him, with one arm. "Can't that wait? That can totally wait. We can call room service later."

[therewaslife]

"I don't have to move," Bod said, laughing at her clinging. "I just wanted to check to make sure you weren't hungry or anything like that."

[vanillajello]

"I can take care of myself that much, thank you," Kate snorted. "I would tell you if I was hungry or stuff. I think I was pretty good about informing you of my needs last night and everything."

Dirty and otherwise.

"Yes, yes you were," he said, laughing and blushing all at once. "Yes, you're definitely not shy about that."

"No, because it's pointless," she sighed. "If I tell you what I want, I have way more chance of actually getting it, and usually we both benefit."

Bod chuckled quietly and let a comfortable silence fall over the both of them while he stroked his fingers through her hair and enjoyed being close to her.

Kate enjoyed the silence for a while, even closing her eyes and just breathing in his familiar scent. She was relaxed, something she hadn't been able to achieve for several days now.

She sighed and said, "You are my anchor."

"Am I?" he asked quietly, loathe to really disturb her when she did look so relaxed. "Did you need that sort of thing right now?"
