Yesterday, Charmaine and Neil had gotten married in a tiny municipal wedding ceremony that had somehow been better for everyone than Charmaine's previous attempt at a marriage. And early today, the newly wedded couple, along with their infant daughter, had taken off for Houston to go househunting. And Kate was already feeling weird that it was really just her and Marshall and Bod around, now.

So it was a good thing this was the day she'd invited people to come visit. Some booze had been acquired, and Marshall had busied himself in the kitchen making snacks, and they were all set. It was going to be weird since Kate had invited a bunch of people who'd never been to Kansas before, but she was hoping it would be a fun kind of weird.

Hannibal just put a hand on her shoulder and lightly shoved her.

"No pouting allowed."

"Hey," Kate said, holding onto that pout, "no telling me what to do in my own house."

"Is it your house or is it your parents?" Hannibal retorted, amused.

"Well technically my parents' but I'm the one taking care of, like, bills and if a pipe breaks or something," Kate pointed out. Forgetting to pout. "I think the responsibility also gives me power. Like a reverse Spiderman."

"And you were trying to argue with me about settling down?" Hannibal asked, amused. "Puh-lease."

"Oh come oooon, Hannibal," Kate whined. "It's just for three months. It's not that settled."

"What's so wrong about being settled, anyway?" Hannibal asked. "It's not that big a deal."

"Well, you're making it sound like one," accused the girl with an eternity symbol both around her finger and her neck. "It's some weird trick of yours."

Hannibal shrugged and tried to look adorable. "I think you're just taking my statements wrong. Should learn how to not to do that, Kate."

"I've known you for about three years, Hannibal," Kate pointed out, rolling her eyes at his adorable ways. Adorable though they were. "I think it's a little too late to act like I don't know what you're saying."

"Settling down looks good on you," he said and that was sincere.

Kate had to smile a little bit. "Thanks, babe. ...I mean, I'm assuming that's a compliment."

"It's a compliment," Hannibal said, shrugging. "I can still give those sometimes."

"Well done," Kate teased with a chuckle. "We'll make a civilized social man of you, yet."

Hannibal took a bow and then looked around. "I think your brother's snacks are calling to me now, though. Catch up with you more later?"

"You bet, babe," she grinned with a nod, then waved him away. "Snacks. Go. Moosh has slaved over them."
