Someone was spooning Kate and nuzzling her neck as she woke up. It was a really nice thing to wake up to. Cozy and comfortable. And obviously there was only one person it could be. So, sleepily, and fully expecting to see a pale face and some floppy hair and grey eyes and probably a cute smile, Kate turned her head and opened her eyes, and--

Well. The guy was pale, yes. Really pale, actually. His skin was almost white, not the kind of peachy pink that passed for white skin in general terms. And his hair was floppy, but it was also a little too long. And black. His eyes were kind of black, too. And his clothes.

He was most definitely not Bod. Kate pushed herself up on her elbows, eyes wide. "What the fuck?"

"Good morning, Kate," the guy replied calmly, with a gently amused smile.

"Who are you? And why the fuck are you in my bed?"

The guy kept smiling. Actually, there was something calming about him. Comforting. Familiar. "I usually go where you go," he said. "Except when you think you don't need me - which is totally fine, by the way - and you end up giving me to Bod to prove a point. Take my hand. You look like you need it."

Without even thinking about it, Kate took the guy's hand. It felt right.

And at the same time she understood what he was telling her. Her free hand came up to the top of her chest, reaching for something that wasn't there. And the guy just gave him something that was almost a smirk.

Still holding the necklace's hand, Kate fell back with a frustrated grunt and burrowed her face into the pillow. "Fucking Fandom."

"Of course," Bod said, nodding and standing up and off the bed so she'd have more room to move around. "I'll wait outside?"

Kate nodded, then gave a look to the necklace who didn't appear to be going anywhere. "Yeah, that means you too."

He got up, giving her a look back. "I'm often the only thing you're wearing," he pointed out as he let go of her hand. "But I understand. I'll go outside."

Hearing another guy, necklace or not, say he was sometimes the only thing Kate wore was a lot strange but Bod shook it off as he stepped outside of her alcove to wait for her to change.

Well, it was either that or pointing out again that the necklace had seen both of them naked and could probably do a decent enough impression of their orgasm noises if he'd have wanted to. He had opted for what he felt was the nicer way of putting it.

While Kate proceeded to look for her clothes, the necklace followed Bod outside the alcove.

"I'm sorry if this is weird for you."

"It's a little strange," Bod agreed, tucking his hands into his pockets and smiling at the necklace. "That's not your fault, though. The island seems to thrive on oddities."

"It does. And it's only temporary," the necklace said with a little smile of his own. "I'm sure I'll be back to normal by Monday."

He didn't seem to bothered by the idea.

"I hope you enjoy your time as a human," Bod said honestly. "There's a lot to see and do and you've a good guide."

"I do," the necklace agreed, smiling a little more fondly. "It should be... interesting. I'm sure I'll make the most of it." He paused, and almost smirked. "I'm sure Kate will make me make the most of it."

"I'm sure she will too," Bod agreed with a quiet laugh. "I'm not ever going to be able to look at her necklace the same way again."

Ever. Ever.

"Sorry," the necklace said. "There are no constants on this island. One minute you're a necklace, the next you are a man. It's all adjustment, all the time."

"Okay, it sounds like you're about to start spouting some deep philosophy," Kate cut in, emerging from her alcove in a cute top and a skirt, "So clearly it's time to go."

She held out a hand to each of them. The necklace took his easily.

Bod reached out and took her other hand, not really thinking of how this was going to look out in public.

"It's time to go," he agreed with a nod. "Lead on."

Kate was not going to care how it would look, and the necklace certainly didn't, either. She tugged them both along with her, onwards to the great adventure of acquiring food.

It would be one weird breakfast, but at least it was with people she liked.
