Jelly Bean B2, Early Monday Morning

There was no one holding Kate as she woke up on Monday morning. She'd expected it, of course, but it was still not a nice feeling to wake up and find herself alone.

Especially when it was fairly permanent kind of alone.

She reached behind her, fingers scraping against the mattress until they found the necklace and closed around it. She pushed herself up enough to get it around her neck more easily, then slumped back down to the same position she'd gone to sleep in. Still taking up only half of her narrow bed for no real reason at all.

As if he was going to come back if she left him some room. It was idiotic and sad and made no sense, but it was early in the morning and she thought it was allowed.

"You can cling to me for as long as you need to whenever you need to," he promised. "I will be here."

"You're so accomodating," she said, smiling at him a bit. "I heart you."

"Thank you," he said, returning that smile. "I heart you as well. It's easy to be accommodating because I want to be here."

"And why do you want to be here?" she wondered, cuddling up closer to him because she wanted to and she could.

"I want to be here because I heart you," he said, sliding his arm around her and sighing. "I want to be here so you can cling to me and take comfort from me because I take it from you. I want to be here so you're not alone."

"That sounds about right," she decided, not feeling particularly evasive or argumentative right now. A rare thing but it happened. "Good answer."

"Thank you," he said and smiled. "Good boyfriend clinging time is yours to take this week. I'm yours."

"Mine," she smirked. "I still can't get over how good it sounds when you say that."

Bod smiled this time and leaned closer to her so he could whisper, "Yours."

She mirrored his action, whispering "Mine" back to him, before snickering quietly and taking advantage of his close proximity by moving in for a light kiss.

"I got chills," she told him, her lips brushing against his.

"Did you?" he asked, reaching around to rub her back. "I didn't know you were so possessive. I learned something new."

"I don't think it's a possessive thing," she said, rubbing his shoulder in turn, still talking close to his lips. "Or maybe it is. I don't know."

He thought it was possessive but he was also close to the situation and not very knowledgeable on relationships. "So, why did it give you chills?"

Kate shrugged a shoulder. "Just like hearing it, I guess," she said. "I don't always find it easy to believe you see me the way you do, either."

"Why not?" he asked, moving to brush his fingers through her hair lightly. He knew what his excuse was but he wanted to know hers.

"Not many people do," she said. "Or, have done, I guess. Still kind of new, you know? I'm used to people-- or guys, looking at me differently."

"I see you differently than other guys?" Bod asked quietly, leaning forward to catch another kiss. It was an honest question because he truly believed everyone should see her like that even if he knew they didn't.

"Yes," she replied, between a few quicker kisses, "you do."

[therewaslife]

"How differently?" he asked, scooting closer to her to kiss her a little more properly.

[vanillajello]

Which just led to him having to wait for a reply a little longer. A proper kiss meant there was no talking.

"Very differently," she said, eventually. "You look closer."

[therewaslife]

"There's so much to look at," he told her, almost whispering it since they were so close now. "I don't want to look away."

"What do you see?" she asked, voice equally low. "Right now, what do you see?"

[therewaslife]

"I see that you're beautiful," he replied, smiling at her. "You are and I'm not going to argue about you just waking up or anything like that. You're beautiful. And you're also sad. I can see it in your eyes and it's not a bad thing. Sadness, it's a natural and it's good. You're allowed to be sad."

Bod reached up to trace her lips and down her jaw. "I see someone who's not used to being really looked at but wants it badly. I think you know you're special, Kate, but you haven't heard it enough. You are. You're extraordinary and I see that."

"Extraordinary? That's a new one." And she looked a little smug about it. Even if she was a little sceptical about nearly everything he'd said, she could still be smug. "And I did just wake up."

But she just pointed that out and refrained from arguing about its effect on her alleged beauty. She thought it was nice of her.

"You are and I don't care," he replied, smiling. "You asked me what I saw and that's what I see. You know I don't lie so it's true."
