Room 324, (Pretty Much) All Day
After checking that Joan had already put up the signs, and leaving Liir a message, Kate settled back in her room, planning the party menu and making lists of things that still needed to be done.
She left the door wide open, and even put a little note on her doorframe:
Questions about the party?
Come ask them here!
Concentrating on things like this was good for her.
[OOC: Open! Obviously.]

"Kate," and he bowed his head quickly in a greeting.
"You called?"

She put the dvds back in the drawer, and got up. "How familiar are you with Hawaiian cuisine?"
no subject
"Actual Hawaiian cuisine, or what most people would know of as Hawaiian cuisine?"

"Here's some of the foods I've been looking at." She picked up some papers from her bed and showed them to him. Among others, there were recipes for oven kalua pig, banana bread and kulolo.

"All well within my range. When were you doing this? I know it's Saturday..."

"No thanks necessary. My pleasure, really."

"Oh, I don't know that a predilection towards hiding in the kitchen and banging away at recipes makes me any better than anyone else. But I'll accept them all the same."
He offered a quick bow before heading for the door.
"Take care, Kate."

That... hadn't occurred to Kate at all. Not even when she asked the boy with the flying broom whether he was familiar with Hawaiian cuisine. Because he was.
"You're actually probably not alone with that," Kate said, still smiling. "Lots of people here from times and places where that doesn't mean anything. It's to do with Hawaii, which is a state, and is basically a bunch of islands."

Kate chuckled a little. "And you can dress up like the girl on the posters, but you don't have to. I mean, if Joan finds me one, I'm definitely going to be rocking a grass skirt, but it's not a requirement."
