Outside MST3000 & Onwards, Wednesday Evening

Another fairly uneventful day at the movie theater had come to an end. The most Kate had really done was talk to her boyfriend and then jot down some plans for a party, but she thought that was plenty. At the end of the day, she said goodbye to her coworkers and locked everything up before slipping out through the back door.

She was smiling to herself as she circled her way to the front of the building.

"Well, yes, that did happen at times," Bod admitted, nodding, "but I couldn't help myself. I just...couldn't help myself."

"Because you looove me," Kate singsonged, quietly. "And you waaant me."

"Yes," he said and laughed, "and yes. I love you and I want you. I always loved you and wanted you. I couldn't help myself."

"Stupid boy," she murmured, teasing, as she reached up for a quick kiss. "Dummy."

"Why are you calling me names?" he asked, smiling after she'd kissed him. "I thought you'd like that sort of thing."

"I do, it benefits me," Kate replied. "I can still think it's dumb."

And she didn't even really think that.

"And why is it dumb?" Bod wondered, laughing. "I don't think it's dumb. It made me happy at the time."

[vanillajello]

"Because you couldn't helping wanting something that wasn't yours to have," she pointed out. "Sounds a little dumb to me. Not taking into account that it worked out rather well for you in the end."

"Are you honestly telling me that you've never wanted something that you couldn't have?" Bod wondered, raising an eyebrow. "I thought everyone felt that way sometimes."

"That wasn't my point," Kate claimed. Then, before giving him time to reply, she added, "And don't ask what it was 'cause I already forgot. I only remember that you missed me that much."

"Of course I did," he said like it was obvious. "I missed you everyday. All the time."

[vanillajello]

"Aaall the time," Kate repeated, with extra emphasis, snagging another kiss. "A lot?"

[therewaslife]

"Yes, a lot," he said, laughing into that kiss. "Quite a lot. Very, very much."

"But you don't have to miss me anymore," she noted, slowly shaking her head so the tip of her nose rubbed against the tip of his. "So what do you do now?"

"What do you mean?" Bod asked curiously. "Do now? Right now, I'm walking you back to the dormitories."

[vanillajello]

"Like, now that you don't miss me, what do you do instead?" Kate explained with a quiet chuckle. "It's not a question that really has any logical, rational answer."

[therewaslife]

"...do you mean in terms of relief?" Bod asked, trying to figure out what she meant.

[vanillajello]

"As interesting as that question is," Kate replied, snickering, "no." She rested her forehead against his shoulder for a moment before stepping away to tug his hand so they'd start walking again. "Nevermind, it was just a teasing throwaway question. Not meant to confuse you this much. Forget it."

"I'm sorry," he said apologetically as he moved to walk with her. "I did try to understand, if that helps. I really did. I'm sorry I apparently missed out."

"It was just a silly question," she assured him, swinging their hands a bit. "Really, don' worry."

[therewaslife]

"If you'd like an answer though, perhaps you could answer it yourself so I know what you were hoping for?" Bod suggested. "What do you do now?"

[vanillajello]

"Love you," she replied, simply. "I mean, actually I still miss you but it's different 'cause it's not something I need to ignore or anything, and I know you're not far away, so... I just love you. That's what I do now that I don't miss you anymore."

[therewaslife]

"That's what I do as well," Bod said, giving her hand a squeeze. "I love you. And when I do miss you, I know that I can go find you and not have it be incredibly awkward or painful. It can just be...us."

"Yeah," Kate nodded with a smile thrown his way. "Much better than before. I'm sorry things were so shitty."

"It's all right," Bod told her, waving his free hand. "It's over and it's in the past and we've moved on. All of that is over and done with. We're here now."
