Outside MST3000 & Onwards, Wednesday Evening

Another fairly uneventful day at the movie theater had come to an end. The most Kate had really done was talk to her boyfriend and then jot down some plans for a party, but she thought that was plenty. At the end of the day, she said goodbye to her coworkers and locked everything up before slipping out through the back door.

She was smiling to herself as she circled her way to the front of the building.

And Bod was there waiting, holding a heaping carton of french fries covered in cheese. He was eating some for himself while he waited for Kate but it was heaping so she needn't fear about him eating them all.

When he saw her come into view, he waved like a dork and smiled.

Kate didn't wave, but her smile might have been considered a bit on the dorky side. "I smell something good that isn't popcorn," she remarked as she came closer. "Hi."

"I went a little overboard with the cheese," he said, holding up the carton of fries. "Please, help me eat them because there are a lot but I was hungry."

"So, what have you been doing all day?" Kate wondered, reaching for the fries. "If not eating enough."

"Nothing that exciting," he supplied, shaking his head. "I went back to my room and read some before I took a walk around the island. And then I read some more before walking back into town for awhile and now here I am. Hullo, girlfriend."

"Hullo, boyfriend," she smirked before popping a fry or two into her mouth. "Geeky bookworm boyfriend. Not that I did anythig much more interesting."

"Hey, I'm not a complete bookworm," he argued, smiling. "I did go to the beach the other day."

Of course, he'd had a book with him but that wasn't important.

"And did you have a book with you?" Kate asked, raising an eyebrow. Only teasing!

"...I didn't read it the entire time!" Bod said, half surprised that she'd picked up on that. He was too predictable.

Or she knew him quite well. Kate preferred to think of it that way. She snickered, picking up some more fries. "And you say you're not a bookworm."

"The water was too cold to go for long swims in," Bod pointed out, making a face at her. "I wanted to do something that wasn't falling asleep in the sun and getting sunburned. I avoided that, by the way."

"Impressive," she replied, not meaning it one bit. "You're such a geek, you are."

[therewaslife]

"How does enjoying reading make me a so called geek?" Bod wondered, snagging a few fries. "I enjoy literature. I wasn't exposed to it as a child so I'm making up for lost time."

"It just does." Some things were easy to decide when you thought you had the right to be an authority. "It's okay, I still like you. It's not offputting."

"I'd worry if that, of all things, was put you off," Bod replied, shaking his head. "I rather enjoy being a geek, if that's the case."

"Well, it could put me off," Kate pointed out, mostly joking. "I mean, it's not like I'm too into the whole stuffy, intellectual side of things. That includs literature."

"Well, if it could put you off, why hasn't it?" Bod asked her. "I've been like this the entire time you've known me."

[vanillajello]

"Because I don't care," Kate replied easily. "Because I love you, and you're not all books, all the time."

[therewaslife]

"Thank you," he said, smiling shyly. "I love you too and no, I'm not all books, all the time. That would be a rather boring existence."

"Some people swear by it," Kate said, shrugging a shoulder. "No one I'm close to, though."

[therewaslife]

"Books are a rather big part of my life but there's so much more out there that books aren't involved in and I want to experience it all," he explained.

"I know," she replied with a brief smile. More fries, right. "It's one of the things I like about you."

"And another thing you like about me is that I bring you food, isn't it?" he asked, amused. "You're lucky I didn't bring celery with me."

"Ew, why would you ever bring celery?" Kate asked, making a face. "I don't remember you having a deathwish."

"I enjoy celery!" Bod protested, shaking his head. "It's especially good with peanut butter on it."
