Outside MST3000 & Onwards, Wednesday Evening

Another fairly uneventful day at the movie theater had come to an end. The most Kate had really done was talk to her boyfriend and then jot down some plans for a party, but she thought that was plenty. At the end of the day, she said goodbye to her coworkers and locked everything up before slipping out through the back door.

She was smiling to herself as she circled her way to the front of the building.

"Well, it could put me off," Kate pointed out, mostly joking. "I mean, it's not like I'm too into the whole stuffy, intellectual side of things. That includs literature."

"Well, if it could put you off, why hasn't it?" Bod asked her. "I've been like this the entire time you've known me."

"Because I don't care," Kate replied easily. "Because I love you, and you're not all books, all the time."

[therewaslife]

"Thank you," he said, smiling shyly. "I love you too and no, I'm not all books, all the time. That would be a rather boring existence."

"Some people swear by it," Kate said, shrugging a shoulder. "No one I'm close to, though."

"Books are a rather big part of my life but there's so much more out there that books aren't involved in and I want to experience it all," he explained.

"I know," she replied with a brief smile. More fries, right. "It's one of the things I like about you."

[therewaslife]

"And another thing you like about me is that I bring you food, isn't it?" he asked, amused. "You're lucky I didn't bring celery with me."

"Ew, why would you ever bring celery?" Kate asked, making a face. "I don't remember you having a deathwish."

"I enjoy celery!" Bod protested, shaking his head. "It's especially good with peanut butter on it."

"... You're a freak," Kate decided, after a mildly incredulous look. "You are. I'm sorry."

[therewaslife]

"You eat processed pudding cups," Bod felt compelled to say. "If I'm a freak, you are as well."

[vanillajello]

"That does not make me a freak," Kate protested, laughing. "Now you're just being mean."

[therewaslife]

"I'm eating something healthy and I'm a freak?" Bod asked, shaking his head. "You're eating something unhealthy and you're not? I don't understand how that works!"

"You're ateenager," Kate pointed out. "You're not supposed to eat healthy and like</i< it."

[therewaslife]

"Well, I do," he said haughtily. "If that makes me a freak, you can just add it to my list of labels."

[vanillajello]

"I'm pretty sure that label was already there, though," she replied, amused. "No extra help necessary from me."

[therewaslife]

"I'm going to take the fries away from you and walk home alone, you...meanie."

Yes, he was still not very good with insults.

Not very good at all. "I'm so offended by your harsh words, Nobody," Kate deadpanned. "I thought you came to get me so you could tell me the one affectionate thing you owe me. So far, you're really failing."

The instant she reminded him of that, he immediately started blushing again. It was impossible to resist. "I...am still going to tell you that. I thought you'd want to eat first."

"Aww, your poor little face," Kate cooed. She couldn't help it, it would be a long while before that stopped entertaining her. "I do want to eat first. Anything that gets you to blush like that deserves my full attention."

And it wasn't like she had too many fries left.

"I just hope you're not setting yourself up for quite the letdown," Bod said, rubbing his cheek and laughing. "I always worry about that."

"I love every single affectionate thing you ever say," she replied sincerely, over a fry. "So don't worry about that."

[therewaslife]

"Thank you," he said, smiling and looking down at his feet. "You're biased but thank you. I like hearing things like that."

[vanillajello]

"Is there a way in which I could not be biased about that?" Kate wondered upon hearing those particular words again. "I think not."
