Outside MST3000 & Onwards, Wednesday Evening

Another fairly uneventful day at the movie theater had come to an end. The most Kate had really done was talk to her boyfriend and then jot down some plans for a party, but she thought that was plenty. At the end of the day, she said goodbye to her coworkers and locked everything up before slipping out through the back door.

She was smiling to herself as she circled her way to the front of the building.

"No, you're not," she snorted, then finished off her fries and showed him the empty carton. "Look, no more fries."

"You were hungry," Bod said, taking the carton and finding a nearby rubbish bin to toss the trash safely into. "Was that enough for you?"

"I think it'll at least tide me over until we get back to the dorms," Kate replied with a smirk, reaching for his hand. "Maybe I'll want dessert there, though."

Bod took her hand in his and said, "I think there's some ice cream in one of the common room freezers, at least. Chocolate, even. I had some the other night."

"I have ice cream of my own," Kate replied, becaus of course she did. "I might still have one last container of wedding cake, too."

"That must have been a rather large cake," he said, swinging their hands back and forth. "After all those fries, I'm surprised you have room but then I realize I shouldn't be. Your metabolism is amazing."

"That's just logical," Kate replied smugly. "The rest of me is amazing too." If he'd expected any other reaction, he was being dumb. "Anyway, it was kind of a huge cake, and you have to remember no one actually got to eat it at the wedding."

"I know that but the amount of cake is still surprising to me," he said, shrugging. "I guess it's good to have should you not want your processed pudding cups."

"The cake was the only happy thing about the wedding, and Mom didn't want to stuff the fridge at home with it." She shrugged. "I think there's only a tiny slice left, anyway. And, I think we have more important things to discuss."

Lest he think she'd forgotten.

She was quite persistent about that, wasn't she? Bod chuckled and glanced over at her. "And what important things do we have to discuss?"

"Like why you've turned the color of a ripe tomato a few times on this fine day?"

Yes, she was persistent but when he'd looked like that, how was she supposed to resist?

"Well, the sun was quite intensive," he replied, being stubborn just because it was fun. He didn't plan on keeping it up, though.

Kate laughed, then gave him a look for how illogical his little attempt at being stubborn was. Not that being stubborn necessitated being logical; her own arguments tended to prove that well enough.

"... Inside the movie theater?"

"Ultraviolet light bulbs?" Bod tried, laughing.

"I think I'd know if we had those," she snorted, shaking her head. "Also, you know, I'm pretty sure Mitchell would mind if we did."

And she was trying not to get distracted by the question of what exactly it was about sunlight that vampires couldn't deal with, not that it did much to Mitchell besides irritating his eyes, anyway.

"Perhaps I have a pigment problem?" Bod laughed, really not even able to sound serious now. "My skin changes colors and I just can't control it!"

"You blushed, Bod," Kate replied, shaking her head. "I know you did. Deal with it."

"Fine, fine, I blushed," Bod chuckled, nodding. "Yes, I blushed and there was quite the good reason for it. I suppose you'd like to know?"

"Yes," she said, like it had been any kind of secret. "I would actually really, really like to know. Please."

[therewaslife]

"All right," he said and actually stopped walking since he didn't want to trip over his own two feet. "When we were...apart, I tried not to want you but that was ultimately futile. I wanted you. And so I..."

That blush was back and he looked down at his feet. "Oh my god, I cannot believe I'm about to admit this to you."

Kate stepped closer to him, crowding his personal space but still street-appropriate, hand still in his. "Well, you're still going to," she said, smirking.

"There were times I really missed you," Bod continued, still blushing and shaking his head. "And sometimes, those times translated into me wanting a bit of...relief?"

It wasn't a graphic word but he still blushed a deeper shade of red. "So, there were pictures in my phone that I used to...help. Of you. I used your pictures to help me...enjoy myself."

Kate snickered and looked somehow vaguely pleased as she reached up to cup one of his blushing cheeks with her free hand. "So you jerked off to photos of me?"

She did not have a problem with slightly more graphic terms, no.

"Yes," he said, barely able to get the word out. His cheeks were still red and warm. "Yes, I did."

"Oh, Bod," Kate said, stroking his cheek with her fingertips, "that can't have been too smart, emotionally."

She was teasing.
