Room 324, Friday Afternoon

Kate was still recuperating. Her night, once she'd bothered to even try pretending she wanted to fall asleep, had been fitful and filled with nightmares, and hadn't left her feeling particularly refreshed.

Still, she'd tried to get back into some normal kind of feeling today. She'd eaten, and she'd showered, and she'd tried do positive, normal things. Having noticed there was a Strawberry Social today, and that the weather had finally cleared, she'd even gotten as far as slipping on a red dress before she'd realized that she had absolutely no inclination whatsoever for being social in a large crowd of people today. None. She was pretty sure she'd either end up hanging around the edges or leaving way early. Or maybe crying again. So, it was best just not to go at all. She wasn't feeling normal enough for that.

So, she'd picked up her laptop and flopped onto her bed, stomach down. She'd just be overdressed for some casual surfing. Pretty things, nothing dark or depressing.

"No," she said, and took advantage of his turned head by reaching up to kiss his cheek. "My brain is just mush from this week."

"Mine is too," he mumbled, smiling at her when she kissed his cheek. "Do you think you might be able to sleep tonight?"

"I don't know," she replied honestly, with a sigh. "There'll be nightmares."

"We both need to sleep," Bod told her, covering her arm with his. "It's not healthy and it's going to catch up to us both."

"I know," Kate said and sighed again, resting the side of her head against the back of his neck. "Will you sleep here tonight? I'm pretty sure I can ship Bobby off to Sookie's."

"Yes," he promised, nodding. "I'll sleep here with you tonight. Of course I will."

"Thank you," she said, and gave him a light squeeze with her arms. "I love you. Things'll get better."

"I love you too," he murmured, nodding. "And things will get better. Things will definitely get better. We just have to hang on."

[vanillajello]

"I'm hanging on," Kate assured him, even if last night she hadn't been quite so sure. "And I'll try to sleep tonight."

"Good. And thank you," Bod said, nodding. "You can hang onto me and we'll both try and sleep tonight."

"Yeah," Kate agreed. Then, trying for something lighter, she added, "You'll still love me when I'm wrinkly, right? 'Cause I'd like to stay right here for a little while longer."

The warm water and his skin on hers were helping with her tensions more than anything before.

"I can honestly and legitimately say that I will love you no matter what so yes, I'll still love you when you're all wrinkly," Bod promised with a smile.

"Good," Kate sighed again. "You'll be wrinkly too, but it's okay 'cause I'll still love you too. So... Let's just stay here and waste some more water."

"Let's," Bod agreed with a quiet sigh and a smile. "Let's stay here and waste water. It's an excellent plan."

Kate kissed the back of his neck, then just settled into a comfortable lean against him again. This was good.

They were good at plans like this.
