Kate was still utterly, utterly excited about having handed in her flight attendant's application. And why shouldn't she have been? It had only been like fifteen minutes! The only change was that she was on the bus on her way home now.

And as she checked her phone, she found a voicemail from Jack, and a handful of messages from Bod. The former made her raise an eyebrow because bwuh, when had she been ignoring Jack's calls, and hadn't they talked like three days ago? As for the latter, she wondered he'd managed so many texts in such short a time, but didn't even read more than the first. This was a thing that needed to be talked about so she could properly squee about it.

So, deciding to call Jack a little later, she picked Bod's number. She was pretty sure he was at work (and she was right, albeit off by two weeks reagarding the date) but whatever, she was calling him right now anyway. How busy could Luke's be?

"I've never really had the honor," Bod replied. "Dorian was older than that and he was quiet anyway. He must have gotten that from me."

Kate was totally the loud one.

Kate was not going to claim otherwise. "He wasn't that quiet," she said. "But I do agree that whatever quiet he had in him, it was totally from you. I think all the quiet genes I could've had got saved for Moosh."

"True, he wasn't that quiet but he was fairly quiet for a young child," Bod argued, sounding fond. "I'm sure he has his moments of being loud and he got that from you along with the blonde curls."

Their kid had been adorable, all right?

"What, his hair was totally from you!" Kate exclaimed, laughing. "I may ahve contributed to the blonde, but the curls were yours. I mean, didn't you have curly hair as a kid like some pint-sized angel?"

"...no." Her memory was far too good. "I had brown hair as a child!"

No, he hadn't.

Kate snorted. "You're lying again."

"Well, I wasn't a pint sized angel, at least," Bod said, laughing. "No angels get punched in the mouth."

"It's just an expression, anyway," she replied. "I bet you were still kind of an angel. Getting headstones for witches and everything."

"She deserved a headstone," Bod said, shrugging his shoulders as best he could in his position. "I was just trying to help her out."

"And not everyone would've done that," Kate said, not taking no for an answer on this one. "You were an angelic little boy and no punches can diminish that."

"You're so insistent on making me angelic and good," Bod laughed, glancing over his shoulder at her. "You're far too good to me."

"I'm just saying," Kate snickered, "that Dorian got all that from you."

"And he got all of his personality and his impatience and his love of sweets from me," Bod returned with a wide smile. "I like that we talk about him."

He wasn't theirs, he knew that, but it was nice to not forget him.

Kate's smile was a little lopsided, but it was definitely there.

"Me too." She figured that migt have been obvious from how she'd made him a Dorian photo album as a peace offering after coming back to her senses from being a selfish bitch. "He was awesome."

"He was." Bod nodded his agreement to that. "I bet he's doing exceptionally well wherever he might be too. Those other versions of us, they did quite well."

"They did stunningly well," she agreed. "I don't know if I thought we'd have it in ourselves."

"We did, though," Bod said and sighed at that. "Apparently we're even better than we thought. That's a good thing."

"It is." She sighed too, shifting a bit but only to even more comfortably use him as a pillow. "Somewhere, we can have our shit together enough to have a family."

"And we have our stuff together here as well," Bod pointed out, smiling and settling down now that she was more comfortable against him. "It's just together in a different way."

"I guess so," Kate sighed. "I love you. Did I tell you that yet today?"

"You did earlier," Bod said, nodding. "On the phone, I mean. I love you too. Always."

"Mmm, big words." Because 'always' was totally a huge word. But she didn't mind that. "Thanks for coming over, boyfriend."

"Thanks for letting me, girlfriend," Bod answered, nodding. "I'm glad I came over. I feel better."

"You sound better," Kate noted, because he did. Much better. "And I'm glad. You should feel good. Always. I like to try and make sure of that."

"I think it might be impossible to always feel good but today, you've succeeded in making me feel good," Bod told her, nodding. "Thank you."
