Christmas had come and gone. So had Marshall who'd joined the holiday festivities (and stayed at Kate and Bod's place) for a week or so, but was already back on the eastern coast. His friends wanted him for New Year's. Charmaine, Neil and Wheels where intending to spend the turn of the year with Tara and Max since they'd been in no rush to get back to Texas after Christmas. And Kate had no idea what her personal plans were.

So she was obviously devoting a lot of thought to that right now.

Or, you know. She was sitting in her pajamas on the couch, eating Twizzlers for breakfast while playing video games. In deep thought.

"Hey, it doesn't have to be all partying and booze," Kate pointed out right back at him. "I couldn't just assume you don't have any possible options in your head. Like, I don't know, something in England or something."

"We can go to England, if you'd like," Bod offered with a laugh, putting his book down on his knee. "It might be a bit chilly in the graveyard."

Kate snickered. "Despite how it may seem like right now ––" With her sleeping attire of tiny shorts and skimpy top. "–– I do have warm clothes, too. I could handle chilly."

"You're just lucky we can afford heat," Bod told her, shaking his head, "or you'd have to change those pajamas."

Kate smirked at him. "And then you'd be sad. Because you looove them."

"Yes, but I would learn to love other things because I'd rather you not freeze to death," he laughed, picking his book back up. "I prefer you warm and alive."

Kate cuddled up to his side. Needy, see. "Yeah, I can see how that works. Freezing girlfriends are no fun."

"Are you all done with your video game?" he asked, looking down at her in amusement. "No more dying today?"

"No more dying this morning, anyway," she said. "I'm all done dying. The loot can wait until I have some patience."

Bod put his book back down and slid an arm around her shoulders so she could move closer.

"And what do you have patience for if not dying in a video game?"

Kate smiled up at him, settling closer.

"You smell nice."

That didn't answer his question.

"I just took a shower," he murmured, smiling down at her. "Thank you, though."

"Yeah but you always smell great." Or was she just biased? Maybe she was just biased. "Should I have showered too already? Am I gross?"

"You're never gross," he told her honestly. "And you should shower when you're ready. You smell just fine."

Kate chuckled and reached up to kiss his cheek. "Well, I probably smell like... the sheets in our bed, anyway."

"You smell wonderful," Bod told her, smiling. "You smell like our sheets and like Twizzlers and like yourself."

The next kiss fell a little closer to his lips.

"Sleep and candy and me. That sounds like my essence, right there."

"I agree," he murmured quietly. "It's a very enchanting smell. I love it."

"Enchanting?" she laughed, quietly. "Mm. Does that make me an enchantress?"

[therewaslife]

"To me, it does," he replied, nodding once. "You enchant me all the time. Every single day."

Kate moved a hand up to cup his cheek, and smiled.

"So basically... I'm magical."

[therewaslife]

"I think you are," he said, leaning into her hand. "So, yes. Yes, you are magical."

"You are too," she murmured, getting close enough to just lightly rub her nose against his. "You are so fucking magical. Like a unicorn."

"A unicorn?" he chuckled lightly. "That's an interesting and never before heard comparison to me."

[vanillajello]

"Well, you're majestic and magical like a unicorn," Kate replied. "And... I'm trying not to come up with a dirty joke about horns right now."
