Jelly Bean B2, Friday Morning

Someone was spooning Kate and nuzzling her neck as she woke up. It was a really nice thing to wake up to. Cozy and comfortable. And obviously there was only one person it could be. So, sleepily, and fully expecting to see a pale face and some floppy hair and grey eyes and probably a cute smile, Kate turned her head and opened her eyes, and--

Well. The guy was pale, yes. Really pale, actually. His skin was almost white, not the kind of peachy pink that passed for white skin in general terms. And his hair was floppy, but it was also a little too long. And black. His eyes were kind of black, too. And his clothes.

He was most definitely not Bod. Kate pushed herself up on her elbows, eyes wide. "What the fuck?"

"Good morning, Kate," the guy replied calmly, with a gently amused smile.

"Who are you? And why the fuck are you in my bed?"

The guy kept smiling. Actually, there was something calming about him. Comforting. Familiar. "I usually go where you go," he said. "Except when you think you don't need me - which is totally fine, by the way - and you end up giving me to Bod to prove a point. Take my hand. You look like you need it."

Without even thinking about it, Kate took the guy's hand. It felt right.

And at the same time she understood what he was telling her. Her free hand came up to the top of her chest, reaching for something that wasn't there. And the guy just gave him something that was almost a smirk.

Still holding the necklace's hand, Kate fell back with a frustrated grunt and burrowed her face into the pillow. "Fucking Fandom."

Kate could shut up about it, but she didn't stop laughing.

"Everything in both your rooms has seen you do that," the necklace pointed out, possibly having been exposed to Kate's brand of evil too much. Or just because it was logical. "Not to mention the trees in that place on the mainland."

This was unfair, getting ganged up on by Kate and her necklace. He was fairly certain that his blush wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

"I didn't need to know that," he muttered.

[vanillajello]

"Wherever there are things, those things can potentially see you," the necklace shrugged, after sharing a private sort of faint smirk with Kate. "That's just how it is."

"It's going to be your fault when I tell Kate we can't do that anymore," Bod said, running a hand through his hair and fanning his flushed face.

[vanillajello]

"That doesn't sound like a believable threat," the necklace said, shaking his head.

Kate didn't think so either. "It so totally does not."

[therewaslife]

"It...might be believable," he said, making a face. "It might be!"

[vanillajello]

And now, he was getting two looks of 'yeah, right'.

"Sure it might," Kate said.

[therewaslife]

"I'm not going to be be able to stop thinking about things that can see!" Bod said, still making faces.

[vanillajello]

"Kate's not distracting enough?" the necklace wondered, amused in that slightly detached way of his. He wasn't completely human, so there was a distance between him and the subject matter.

Didn't mean he wasn't going to find this funny.

"Kate's plenty distracting," he said, thankful that the blush seemed to be abating. "I'm still going to think about it."

[vanillajello]

"She'll make you forget," the necklace remarked, giving Kate's hand a squeeze. "It's what she does."

Kate nodded. "And anyways, we'll worry about that way later. It's not like that's a pressing issue right now."

[therewaslife]

"It's definitely not a pressing issue right now," he agreed, shaking his head and tugging at the collar of his shirt. At least he'd kept the blush from cropping up again.

"You're very calm," Bod said to the necklace, trying to change the subject. "Do you pass that onto Kate?"

Well, the subject change seemed to be a success. At least, Kate fell silent and turned her attention to the necklace, too.

"Well, I try," he said, giving her hand another squeeze. "But I'm only this calm because she touches me to calm herself. So I'm not exactly sure how it works."

[Crashing, night!]

"I don't know either," he admitted but he wasn't too surprised at that. "She tried to tell me she didn't need you when she gave you to me that one week."

He smirked over at Kate. "I guess I won that one."

[Night! Sleep well!]

"No one won anything," Kate said, making a face.

"She likes saying things like that," the necklace noted. "Kate doesn't need anyone, or anything."

Somehow, that statement almost sounded like its exact opposite.

"Ah." Bod glanced at Kate now, wondering if that was completely true. Of course, that meant he just had to ask. The shortest distance between two points was a straight line and asking seemed easier than waiting for her to offer up the honesty.

"Is what he says true?" he asked, curious. "You don't need anyone or anything?"

[vanillajello]

It was such a simple thing, wasn't it? Just asking?

Well, not so much if who was being asked didn't much like the question. Kate made a face again. And didn't really answer. "You're starting to annoy me," she told the necklace instead.

He just looked back at her. "I'm only looking out for you."

[therewaslife]

"Don't fight with your necklace," Bod said mildly, looking half amused. "Unless you'd rather have an argument, that is. I can step outside if that's the case."

[vanillajello]

"I don't think I could have an argument with him, anyway," Kate grumbled, but seemed to relax a bit again. "He's too calm."

[therewaslife]

"We've had arguments before and I'm fairly calm," he pointed out. Granted, he wasn't as calm as her necklace but he still thought he was calmer than most.

[vanillajello]

"Okay, so I couldn't have a fight with him," she sighed. "Anyway, even you get all English and sharp eventually."

With enough provocation, anyway.

"All English?" he repeated, smiling now. "What do I do when I get all English?"

[vanillajello]

"Your accent gets stronger."

Or maybe it just sounded like that to her when she was annoyed with him.

"I don't tend to notice," he replied but that was logical, at least. He wouldn't notice if he was used to it. "At least I don't yell?"

[vanillajello]

"She'd find it easier if you did," the necklace chimed in. "She doesn't deal well with people being calm and rational when she's trying to have a fight with them."

Kate made a face at him. Again. "Oh will you cut it out with your observations?"

He just gave Bod a little smile. "See?"
