Normal weekends were weird. Kate knew that was a thought that didn't make much sense at first glance. She didn't care. It was still true.

Not that the Gregsons usually spent their weekend debating paint colors, or packing stuff up and moving it around the house to paint rooms. But they were just... They were all acting normal. Like a normal family. Joking and laughing as they did stuff. It wasn't the first or the only time Kate had felt that by any means, because they were generally a happier family than people (Kate herself included) gave them credit for, but still. Weird.

So Kate was taking a break, by closing the doors to her room and flopping down on her bed, and not really thinking about anything at all. Thinking would only lead to either thoughts of what Mitchell had told her yesterday, or wondering just how long this no mental illness thing would last.

And that was not what taking a break was all about.

"If you did that, the blush would be gone by the time someone got here," he replied, feeling his still hot cheeks. He didn't think she'd send someone to see him but she was unpredictable sometimes.

"What would you like instead? I don't think I can talk the same as you but I can do other things."

"Offer me something," she suggested as she reached for the remote control of her stereo from her bedside table. "You know the things you can do. So, offer to do something."

"Um." Bod paused, chewing on his lower lip while he thought about what to offer. "Would you like to go camping?"

It was the immediate thing that had come to mind and he knew it was due to him spending time off island this weekend.

At least it was an offer that made her smile.

"In general? Not really," she said. "But with you? Yes."

"I can offer something else," he said hastily, shaking his head. "That was the first thing that came to mind and it's not really in the same league as what you'd offered."

"Well, you could always add to it," she replied, "or come up with something else. I'm easy."

"I'm not...good at this like you are," he admitted, shaking his head. "I don't know what to offer."

"Because I'm so very good at this," she drawled. "What with going for the easiest thing I could think of and everything."

"You're better than I am," he said and shrugged. "I could...offer to take you camping in England?"

"Is it going to be cold?"

Wasn't it always supposed to be raining and cold in England? Not that it had been when she'd been to Bristol, but...

"I don't -- " He laughed and shook his head. "Let's forget I offered to go camping. I'll think of something else, I suppose."

"No, I didn't mean it was a bad idea. I mean, if it's cold I suppose that'd just mean we'd have to be close to each other," she tried to rationalize. "So, it'd be all cozy with, like hot chocolate and... me bitching about my freezing toes. Okay, maybe something else would work better."

"I don't -- " Bod shook his head. "I don't know what to offer you, Kate. I might have to think about it."

"So, you'll think about it," Kate said as she turned her stereo on low for background noise. "Now, just relax."

[therewaslife]

"There is something I'd like to try," he said, settling down a little more, "but I can't tell you what it is. It'd ruin the surprise."

And Bod couldn't believe he was thinking about taking Puck's advice.

"I'm relaxed," he added quietly, "but I think I know what I want to offer you. I've never done it before for anyone but I want to try. I just can't tell you. I'm relaxed."

"So, lemme get this straight. You know what you want to offer me, but you can't tell me what it is. So, basically, you can't actually offer it to me." She snickered. "Okay."

[therewaslife]

"No, no," he said quickly, shaking his head. "I want to offer you a surprise. You just have to trust me...and accept the offer."

"Well, I guess I can go with that." She did trust him. "Sure."

[therewaslife]

"All right." Now, he'd just have to figure out what went into a seduction and how someone like himself could do it without making a mess of things.

"I'm relaxed," he said again, feeling a bit better now that he had a plan, at least.

And if he could do it without Puck getting an earful of 'please never talk to my boyfriend again' later, that would be great.

But that was all in the future, and the present was currently more interesting.

"Good," Kate said, smirking. "Stay relaxed. I wish I could be there to... help you relax some more. But I guess my voice and words will have to do."

"I'll stay relaxed," he said, nodding and taking some nice, deep breaths. "I wish you were here too. I do."

"Of course you do," she teased. "I'm awesome in so many different ways. And if I was there, I think I'd be licking your neck right about now. Because I know you're sensitive there, and it's easy to distract you by going for your neck."

[therewaslife]

"I am," he said and closed his eyes, deciding he just wanted to listen to her voice now. "You like my neck."

"I do like your neck," she agreed, smiling some. "And you like that I like it. It's lickable and kissable and I can bite you there, and when I'm touching your neck, I have no choice but to to press the rest of me against you too. And that's always good, right?"

She'd definitely always found it an especially good thing.

"That's always good," he replied, nodding. You have to be close to me for your mouth to reach my neck. It's a good thing."
