Overland Park, KS, Saturday Afternoon
Kate was nervous. And she thought she had every damn right to be. This was actually the first time ever she'd brought a boyfriend home to be introduced to her parents. (As always, Leto didn't count. They hadn't even kissed before he came home with her.) And that was just... Weird. It felt weird.
And anyway, in her mind, they were here more to get a break from Fandom. Not to make official introductions. But it was still a little terrifying, even if she wasn't really showing it.
They'd taken a bus from the airport and walked the rest of the way since it wasn't far from the bus stop, and Kate thought she could use the extra time to remind Bod of what he wasn't supposed to talk about. And to prepare herself for everything.
The first thing she noticed after they got to her house was that her dad's pick-up truck wasn't parked outside. Neither was The Green Hornet, her mom's car. But she was too nervous to think about what that might mean.
"So. That's my house," she said, nodding at the house and flashing a smile at Bod as she stopped to stand by the green mailbox, which had a few painted flowers on it and said 'The Gregsons' in Tara's handwriting. "Welcome to Oak Avenue."

Not that he was doing so hot with that so far, either.
[Noted! Boo, storms! ...But also, oooh storms!]

And he just kept moving those lips up and down the side of her neck, open mouthed and using his warm breath to his advantage.
"I hope nothing goes wrong," he found the time to say, nuzzling her neck now, "but I am prepared to break the rules in this case. I find it hard to resist touching you."
no subject
Failing at something was rarely this fun.
"Resist when it counts," she sighed. "Don't when it doesn't. I completely expect you to be all over me once we go to bed."
no subject
He didn't know if there was a spot he hadn't kissed at this point but he'd definitely look. The looking was half the fun. "I'll put my hands all over you later."

She was about to say something else, but of course, right then there was a cough somewhere behind them. She froze for the few seconds it took her to realize that a cough that awkward could only be her brother.
And it was, as became obvious soon enough. "Wow, you guys really need to learn to close doors," Marshall said, standing by the bathroom door.
no subject
"Um." Well. That blush he'd managed to keep contained was spreading across his cheeks and down his neck now. He was just going to try and hide his face against Kate's shoulder until that went away. At least he wasn't completely wrapped around her now.
no subject
"I wasn't sneaking, I just walked in through the bathroom," Marshall pointed out. "I was just going to come ask you what your sleeping arrangements are going to be. But I think I have a pretty good guess now."
no subject
He was just going to let Kate handle this conversation. He was going to listen and contribute if needed but he was just mostly hoping his blushing cheeks would contribute to his overall adorable aura.
no subject
She just sent back a look that said she didn't undertand why that would be such a big deal.
"Yeah, we're gonna pretend he's sleeping on your floor," she replied in words, "but really he's gonna sleep here with me, and you're not gonna rat us out to Mom and Dad."
Marshall shook his head. "As if I was going to. You don't think they'll figure it out, though?"
Kate shrugged, but lightly, so as not to jostle Bod. "Well, I figure Mom will, but she won't say anything, and Dad'll be too convinced he has some authority to keep that from happening. We should be good."
no subject
He wanted to promise that he'd behave and wouldn't do anything that would warrant getting told on but, in the end, decided that actions would speak louder than words.

It had been bad enough that one time with Charmaine staying over with Fake Uncle Nick.
"Okay, so I guess we'll do that," he said, nodding. "Good. I'll leave you to your... I'll leave now."
He closed the bathroom door behind him as he left.
no subject
"I suppose...I suppose it's good to get that bit of embarrassment out of the way," he said, trying to make light of that. "Oops."
Good thing they hadn't been doing anything too risky.

Now, he probably would have burst into flames them. "At least he knows why I'll be sneaking out later and I won't have to answer questions."
That probably would have caused more blushing.
no subject
And it didn't take much brains to figure out where Bod would be sneaking off to.
no subject
And poor Marshall saw them again doing whatever they ended up doing when he sneaked over.
no subject
She was going to end up paranoid about doors before this trip was over.
no subject
"And after I close the door, I'll come and climb into your bed with you and we can see how much you missed my hands. Yes?"
no subject
It meant she missed seeing her dad's car pulling up into the driveway now, but she did think she heard something. She'd react to it in a moment. Probably.
"That sounds really good."
no subject
"I can give you a back rub since I'm sure you've built up some tension," he said, letting his lips find her neck again. "I'll kiss your tattoo and listen to your heart and let you listen to mine. I'll call you beautiful and help you relax."
no subject
"Mm." She liked listening to him too much, right now. Too bad. "Yeah, I'm sure I've got tension. Relaxing's important."
Outside, her father got out of his car with his bags of Indian takeaway.
no subject
"Relaxing is very important. And I know how to touch you and how to do it quietly so you will relax," he said into her ear. "I'll kiss your back, kiss that tension away and try and replace it with relaxation."
And he was back to kissing her neck. Apparently the interruption hadn't totally thrown him off. "I'd say I'd even try and talk to you in ways I usually don't but it might not be the right time and that might just further your tension. Hmm. You know I can, though."
no subject
There'd been something she'd been supposed to do. Now what the hell was it? She couldn't remember, and it was all his fault. Him and his warmth and his words.
no subject
"And we couldn't solve that frustration like we usually do," he said, lowering his voice. "Though, I think I could cuddle up behind you, cradle you with my body and tell you that I love you. That'd be a good relaxation technique."
no subject
She would love it. Even if he was a distracting dumb boy who was probably dooming them right now.
