Room 324, Friday Evening

After everything that had happened over the last week, and what little had happened today, Kate was just so very glad to have a completely unrelated thing to focus on.

And right now, that thing was the thought of getting a new fake little sibling tomorrow. So, she'd been putting together a little welcome kit with some useful items. It felt a little dorky, but it was pretty fun, actually, doing that. And distracting, which was the important thing.

She'd even considered baking a batch of cookies, but then decided against it both because there'd be enough food at the welcome picnic, and she wasn't really feeling the idea of standing in the common room baking right now. She'd just offer to bake the kid something at a later date.

So now, Kate was just sprawled on her bed, making a refresher list of all the things a newbie to fair Fandom island should be told on their first day.

And she was eating chocolate. Chocolate was a good thing.

"I can accept that," he said, moving his head just enough that he could kiss the spot over her eye and then closer to her hairline. "I like knowing what makes you tick. I do."

"I like you knowing," she replied with a quite little sigh, closing her eyes again. "I do."

"Mm. Are you feeling better?" he asked, sliding his lips along her forehead and down towards her temple.

"Yes," she said, quietly. "Yes, I am."

"Good," he said, pleased with that. And he showed that by kissing the tip of her nose lightly. "That's what I wanted to hear."

"Wanna stay for a while?" Kate asked, wrinkling her nose under that kiss. "It's kind of late, so Bobby will be back eventually, but until then?"

"I do," he replied easily, nodding. "I'll stay until then, of course. I'd like to."

"Well do you wanna stay like this?"

She, for one, could probably stay like this forever. But she'd be just as happy any other way too.

"I don't have any preference," he said and laughed. "We can stay however you'd like to stay. I'm here."

"Then maybe we should lay down," she suggested, laughing a little herself. "Slightly easier to make it less embarrassing for Bobby if he shows up."

"You first," he said, leaning forward to kiss her briefly. "I can't move until you do."

[vanillajello]

"I can't move if you kiss me," she murmured against his lips, but moved anyway, off his lap and onto the bed so she could sprawl out with her head on her pillows.

"It looks like you managed," he pointed out, moving so he could stretch out beside her on his back. "You're talented like that. I had faith in you."

[vanillajello]

"I'm talented in many ways," she said, moving closer to drape an arm over him, her head against his shoulder and the rest of her curled up against his side. "And you know it."

[therewaslife]

"You are, indeed," Bod said, dropping a kiss on top of her head. "You're a very talented person."

[vanillajello]

"Mm." She rubbed her cheek against his shoulder. "And now you'll get to enjoy my talents for clinging to you and relaxing."

[therewaslife]

"Lucky me," he said quietly, stretching out against her and sighing. "Perhaps some of your talent will influence me as well."

[vanillajello]

"Maybe," she replied lazily. "You can hope."

[therewaslife]

"I am hoping that, yes," he said, still pleased to hear how her tone had changed since he'd arrived. "If not, I'll just enjoy you instead."

"Mm." She yawned, her eyes closed. It was pretty adorable. "That works too."

[therewaslife]

"Enjoy your nap," he said quietly, smile turning softer at that. Plus, he knew the signs of sleepiness, he knew she'd been stressed so he fully expected his statement to be correct.

"I'm not gonna nap," Kate protested, but it was quiet, and he was warm, and there was that whole stress thing too.

She was probably going to fall asleep any minute now.

"You're going to nap," he said fondly. "Goodnight, Kate. I'll see you when you wake up."

If Bobby came back and she was still asleep, he was just going to have to deal with Bod being around for a little while.

"Oh, fine," she sighed, and curled up a little tighter against him. It didn't take long once she stopped fighting it. She drifted off to sleep.

Smiling a bit.
