Room 324, Friday Evening

After everything that had happened over the last week, and what little had happened today, Kate was just so very glad to have a completely unrelated thing to focus on.

And right now, that thing was the thought of getting a new fake little sibling tomorrow. So, she'd been putting together a little welcome kit with some useful items. It felt a little dorky, but it was pretty fun, actually, doing that. And distracting, which was the important thing.

She'd even considered baking a batch of cookies, but then decided against it both because there'd be enough food at the welcome picnic, and she wasn't really feeling the idea of standing in the common room baking right now. She'd just offer to bake the kid something at a later date.

So now, Kate was just sprawled on her bed, making a refresher list of all the things a newbie to fair Fandom island should be told on their first day.

And she was eating chocolate. Chocolate was a good thing.

Yesterday, he'd lost a friend and gained two fish. Today, he'd wandered down a few floors to see Kate. If he was still feeling some slight hesitation around her, he was doing his level best not to show it.

He stopped in the door though, hands in his pockets and smiled at the picture she made there. He didn't say anything though, content enough to watch.

[LOL I STALK U. Also, I have to run off to work so I might be AFKish for just a bit but yes]

Kate was kind of focused on typing up her list ('no one's dyed the deer, that's their color' was the latest entry), so it took her a while to realize he was there. Eventually, though, she did look up and, upon recognizing him, smiled a bit. "Hey. Come in."

She was doing her very best to not seem awkward or hesitant, either.

[STAAALKER. I totally expect to be up until 'omgwtf is that the time lol Corrie u crazy', so no worries about anything.]

"Did I interrupt you?" asked Bod, stepping inside and closing the door behind him. It was amazing that he even remembered to do that. "You're not doing school work already, are you?"

"Pfft, yeah right," Kate said, rolling her eyes, but it was all friendly. "I'm just making myself a check list for my new fake little sibling tomorrow. Basic Fandom weirdnesses."

"That sounds helpful," he said, wandering over to her. "What sorts of things have you added so far? The weirdness didn't really get to me until recently but I think something like that would have...eased the impact."

Possibly.

In Kate's experience? It hadn't, really. But turning into a cat two days in had.

She looked at her screen again and scrolled a bit. "Well, I've got transformations, mindfuckery, crazy weekends, time travel happens, there's life on other planets, Caritas doesn't card, zombies at Caritas are real, having the same face as someone else happens..."

Fandom was a wacky place.

"Thorough," he remarked before taking a seat on the edge of her bed and looking towards the screen. "I don't even know if I'd have anything to add besides the fact that almost everyone has a child somewhere and they will come visit you."

Granted, he had not gotten a visit but he knew he could have.

"Ooh, yes," Kate nodded, writing that up as 'alternative universe kids can show up. Then she paused and typed and AUs happen in general too. "I don't know if that feels like a minor weirdness to me, or if my brain's just trying to block it for some reason, but I completely forgot about the kids."

"Well, you had a lot of them," he said and laughed. "I'm surprised you forgot about them considering how exhausted they made you. Though, I remember the kids more so because the weekend started and ended with you ending up in my bed."

"How... typically boy-like of you," she remarked with an amused glance at him. "I woulda thought you might remember it because Dani kept calling you my boyfriend. But you remember it for sleeping and sex."

"I remember what Dani called me," he protested, laughing. "And I wasn't remembering it for the sleeping and the other thing. Just that we were interrupted the first night and we got to make up for it the last day."

"Mm." She reached for his hand. She could keep herself propped up on one elbow and type with one hand if she came up with any new additions.

"I liked sleeping with you," she said, kind of softly.

"I always like sleeping with you," he said, twining his fingers with hers and smiling down at her. "It's very comfortable. Very warm."

"Very clingy," she added. "Occasionally very tangly too."

"Those too, yes," he said and laughed quietly. "You enjoy sleeping on top of me just as much as I enjoy the fact that you do sleep on top of me. It tends to end up tangled."

"Well, it's a good way to sleep, making sure you don't get away," she noted lightly. "You're just lucky I'm so light."

"What makes you think I'd want to get away?" he asked, amused. "I'm not one to just leave randomly while you're sleeping."

Well. The time he'd disappeared didn't completely count. Not to him.

Kate raised a brow at him for that, but let it be the only nod to the fact that Fandom sometimes had other ideas than he did.

"You might sleepwalk," she said instead. "Or something."

"I don't, though," he pointed out, rubbing his thumb idly against her hand. "I sleep rather peacefully, I think. I don't snore. I don't move a lot. I don't get up to use the bathroom. I'm a pleasant sleeper."

"You're a pleasant pillow," she corrected. "And mattress, and occasionally a blanket. And I don't want any of those wandering around when I'm trying to sleep, so it's good that you are."

"How do you sleep without me?" he asked, amused once again. "I seem to provide every facet of a bed for you."

"I don't," she replied. "Can't you tell I haven't slept at all since we got back from Kansas?"

She'd slept a lot since they'd returned. Though she still looked a little worn out.

"Hmm. You still look slightly tired," he said, having leaned back to get a better look at her face. "Having any trouble re-adjusting?"

"I don't even know what I'm re-adjusting to," she said, shaking her head. "So yeah."

She'd probably feel back to normal... sometime halfway through next week. Maybe.

"It was a long few days," he said and kept rubbing his thumb against her skin now, back and forth since that's where they were touching for the moment.

"Perhaps you're re-adjusting to the change of pace?" he suggested.
