Room 324, Monday Afternoon

After the arrest and everything, yesterday had continued to be just as moodswingy a day as many of the others before it. On one hand, her video had gained more than 250,000 hits in a single day, and Lynda had invited her to the Crossroads art shindig this Friday. On the other, she and her brother had had to listen to their parents fighting for like two hours in the evening. That always made her feel like an orphan. It sucked.

As did having to leave Marshall alone with the mess she could escape, especially when it was going to be his sixteenth birthday tomorrow. But Kate was still insanely glad when she finally managed to convince her parents to unground her so she could come back to Fandom.

She flew back, her parents paid for the tickets. She was too late for her classes, and probably would've skipped them anyway, so once she made it into her room, she just dropped her bags on the floor and fell over onto her bed, burying her face in her pillows.

Home sweet home, or something.

"That's quite the thing to say considering I'm sure you've done a lot of things," Bod said, nodding. "I'm anticipating seeing it even more now."

"I've done a lot of cool things, but not too many of them are this cool," she pointed out, as she was clicking around and making the video load so it'd play smoothly.

"And nothing that this many people have seen, anyway."

"All right, all right," he laughed and held up a hand. "Perhaps I should just watch it before you run out of accolades to label it?"

"Yes, and then you can come up with your own."

She pressed play on the video which someone was never getting tired of linking to, and was just instantly mesmerized. Again.

She was never going to tired of seeing this. Ever.

Bod, on the other hand, didn't know really what he was watching for a moment. It even took him a few moments to figure out that the girl in the video was Kate. After that, he watched with semi wide eyes and a dumbfounded expression on his face.

"Well." Bod blinked, still unsure of what he'd just seen. He was so not the proper boyfriend for things like that. He was mostly just confused.

Unfortunately, Kate didn't pay much attention to his reactions during the video, too interested in watching herself again. She just looked so damn hot in those clothes.

"So, wasn't it just the most glorious thing ever?" she asked excitedly, turning towards him.

And then she actually took a look at the expression on his face, and tilted her head to the side, a little quizzical. "Or did it just all go straight over your little graveyard boy head?"

[Pfft, it's been in my head SINCE YESTERDAY.]

"It was...creative," he said, finally getting some words out. "Very creative. And that was an interesting outfit you were wearing."

He was trying to figure out how walking in those boots was possible.

"It was...nice."

Maybe it had gone over his head.

Kate just decided that was a positive enough review. Even if, yes, she was pretty sure it had gone straight over his head. That was okay, at least he hadn't claimed it was lame.

"Wasn't it?" she beamed. "I totally brought the costume back with me, by the way."

"To...wear to classes?" asked Bod curiously.

Kate snorted, amused. "No," she said, and shrugged. "Just... I don't know. For fun."

She didn't think she really needed a reason.

"Oh." He was such a boring boyfriend in this regard. "I hope you have fun with it then. It's very interesting. And very disguising. It took me a moment to realize that was you in the video."

He was occasionally a little boring if he wasn't nudged in the right direction, yes. Though right now Kate chose to just be amused, and shake her head a little.

"Yeah, well, technically I guess it's not," she pointed out, shrugging again. "It's Princess Valhalla Hawkwind."

"You're portraying her though," Bod pointed out. "So, it is you just playing a character."

A character he didn't really understand just from that music video but that was typical for him.

"Yeah but it's still the character in the video," Kate returned. "Not really me. But didn't I look fucking fabulous?"

Priorities.

"You looked nice. I mean, you looked different," Bod said, still wrapping his mind around everything. "You were very unique looking."

"Thank you." Kate was choosing to just take that as a compliment. "That's the point, she's a unique character."

That may not have been entirely true.

"Yes, I can definitely see that," he agreed with a nod. "She looked very unique and..."

Confusing.

"...talented."

"Well, she's supposed to save her gazillion sisters," Kate replied idly, closing the laptop. "Better have some talents."

The talent of magnificent cleavage was as good as any, really.

"I'm sure she'd be successful," Bod said, thumb rubbing his lip thoughtfully. "You looked like you were having fun."

"I did," she said, smiling while she looked down at her computer. "I mean, it was kinda like when I did the plays, or that big dance recital last year, only better."

"Thank you for showing me even if I don't really understand," he said apologetically. "I'm not really one for that type of thing, I don't think. I'm slow."

"You're not slow," she argued gently, glancing at him. "Just not really your thing. Which doesn't surprise me, considering it's totally my thing."

"It's made you happy and that's the important part," he decided, nodding. "I'm not slow enough to know that."

"I know. And it's been pretty cool." That was an understatement. "Ooh, and Lynda invited me to this art thing they have where she lives this Friday. And then she's coming here for the weekend."

"She's coming here for a visit?" Bod asked. "You sound like you're going to be seeing a lot of her so I guess it is good that you get along so well."
