Room 324, Late Friday Morning

It was Kate's birthday.

Not that that was much evident from anything, except maybe the slightly stilted happy birthday phonecall she'd gotten from her dad earlier, and the far more animated one from Lynda a little later. But it was still her birthday. Seventeen. Hmmh.

She was grabbing a portal to KC in the evening to join Lynda in the Crossroads district's First Friday art thing. And afterwards she was going to take another portal back, and tomorrow morning Lynda was going to fly over to be her weekend guest.

But for now? She was lazing about in a skimpy top and shorts (it was her birthday, she thought she was allowed) with some candy and a random bad movie on her laptop. And wearing her Princess Valhalla boots for no real reason, other than having just checked the insane number of hits on her video.

So far it was an okay birthday.

"Are you sure?" he asked, ducking down to kiss her lightly again. "You were fully satisfied by that birthday kiss?"

"Mm, well, if you put it like that," she mumbled in reply, "maybe I wasn't. Always room for improvement."

"What sort of improvement do you think I need?" Bod asked, reaching down to kiss her again. "I thought that was a pretty brilliant kiss myself. It took my breath away."

"But you're not the one whose breath we should worry about, are you?" Nevermind that her breath had kind of been taken away too. "Less breath. More intensity. I think there should be dizziness."

"It sounds like you're saying that first one wasn't good enough for you," he said and gave her an exaggerated pout.

"Hey, you're the one who brought up the idea I might not be satisfied with it," she pointed out, snickering a bit. "I called it memorable, remember?"

"I wanted to make sure it was all right, I wasn't asking you change your mind from your first answer," he replied, shaking his head. "Insatiable."

"Oh don't act like you don't like that about me," she replied, quietly laughing. "I'm a challenge."

"You're going to hurt my feelings," said Bod, shaking his head sadly. "You're the one telling me that my kiss wasn't memorable enough and could be better. Sad."

"You're being defeatist," Kate chided, amused. "It just means you should try again. Don't you like trying?"

[therewaslife]

"You just want me to kiss you again," Bod decided with a small smile. "And you just want my hand to start moving again. I know you're trying to goad me."

"I think I pretty much just told you that's what I want," she teased. "So, congratulations on your observational skills."

"And I should give you these things because it's your birthday," he said and it wasn't a question. He leaned down and kissed her gently again, barely touching his lips to hers.

But she wasn't having mere lightness. Not when she could reach up and try to get a little more.

And move her hands a little further down his back again, nails dragging over his shirt.

Bod hadn't expected her to do that though he probably should have. He didn't pull away though because he didn't want to prove his point that badly. Instead, he dove back into that kiss and his hand curled up and over the breast it'd just been touching moments earlier.

Kate liked doing the unexpected, sometimes. But mostly she just liked doing whatever pleased her the most. This particular action had just so happened to be both. But mostly the latter.

She reached down his back so she could slip her hands under his shirt. He had a hand up hers, so she should do the same, right?

Of course she should get a hand up his shirt, it was only right. Bod actually close to just taking her shirt off to make it easier but with his lips attached to hers, he wasn't really thinking all too clearly about anything else for the moment.

And she really wasn't about to help him with thinking clearly, no. Not when there was all that skin to get at, without any shirt in between dulling the feel of her nails on him.

He'd just have to postpone thinking clearly.

Bod twitched again, even more so than previously and pushed against those hands again. It was her birthday but he wanted more of that. He'd probably have to be reminded of that shortly.

The hand on her breast closed around it, squeezed gently and he kissed her a little harder, intending to make her dizzy now.

Dizzy would be just wonderful. Everything else was, already, and she couldn't hold back a gentle sigh against his lips when she felt his hand closing around her breast, before responding eagerly to that kiss.

Some birthday gifts could be shared.

Bod would have smiled if his mouth hadn't been completely and utterly busy but since it was, he just kept kissing her and let the hand he had shoved up her shirt and the fingers he had around her breast knead softly, massaging the soft skin to give her something more to feel.

Kate squirmed underneath him, just a bit. It was a nice feeling. He should know that. And since she couldn't tell him in words, he could tell him through the kiss.

Her nails traced a zigzagging trail up his back.

Bod pulled away from her lips but kept his hand where it was. Was he teasing? Did he need to breathe? He wasn't going to tell. What he was going to do was smile at her.

"Are you dizzy yet?"

"No," Kate replied quietly, sounding a little out of breath. Her hands stilled for the moment. "Try harder."

"I don't think you're telling me the whole truth," Bod said, shaking his head lightly. "I think you are dizzy."
