Room 324, Saturday Afternoon
Originally, Kate had been pretty thrilled to find herself alone in 324 for the weekend. She liked having a roommate, but she loved having the space to herself, with the freedom to hang out in as little clothes as she wanted to. What was there to not love about that?
And that was how it had worked for most of the evening. But then late night, after going to bed, she'd just become super aware of being alone in the room. Alone in the dark. She'd told herself it was just stupid and ridiculous and sad to be scared but the feeling didn't leave her alone. It was the first night she'd slept all alone (or at least without a territorial, protective vampire in the same house) since... all that traumatizing, life-threatening crap. She knew she'd get used to it with time, but knowing that didn't help with the fear at hand.
She'd done most of her sleeping in the morning, sleeping way in, and was now seriously considering luring someone into spending this next night with her. Right now, that mostly consisted of having her door open with music drifting out into the hallway. She wasn't feeling like going out to find people, though she did at times wander over to stand in the doorway, just... watching. It was that kind of a day.
Occasionally, she fiddled with her phone and wondered whether she should just call someone over, but she wasn't sure that the phonelines weren't still messed up, and anyway, how desperate would that have looked?
[ooc: Door and post are open, people who come by may or may not be subtly roped into having a sleepover.]

"That's kinda how I got into this mess," she added in a mutter, by her desk.

"I'm not knocking them on the whole, just as a solution today. Today, I'd just like to sleep with someone, but considering this is a high school, that's unlikely to happen since I'd still like it to be a dude."

Did Nathan have the right? He wasn't sure and she seemed to be contradicting herself during every ensuing sentence.
"What exactly do you want, then?" he asked after a moment. "Cuddling? Spooning? Nuzzling?"
no subject
"Just sleep." Okay, maybe some part of her wanted all the other stuff too, but it was a part she'd been stomping on pretty hard for the past few weeks. "Just... sleep." She shrugged. "Yeah, I know that's probably weird, I'm aware of that."
And the dudes over chicks thing was for a feeling of safety. And maybe giving into that stomped on part of her, a little.

"So, you want to sleep with a bloke but you want that bloke to keep his hands to himself because fucking hell, it's annoying when sleep is interrupted? Do I have that right? Why haven't you just gone and asked someone to sleep with you?"

Kate may have been overcompensating, there, for showing some vulnerability. Maybe. It didn't last long before she seemed to deflate just a bit, making a face. "And also because asking would just come off desperate and I don't want people knowing I'm apparently, like, five years old now."
Yeah, she had no idea why Nathan wasn't apparently included in 'people'.

"Do you want me to sleep with you?" he finally asked since the way she was talking made it seem like no one else had offered. "I'm clean, I don't think you're fucking five years old, the only thing that bothers me about the dark is when I stub my toes on the corners of doors because I'm half asleep, and your body isn't all that great. It's mediocre, at best."
Okay, maybe that last one was a lie but he said it anyway. She apparently thought any guy would just jump her if they got the chance.
no subject
"You wouldn't try anything? Am I supposed to believe that?"

Maybe she needed to work on gracefully accepting kind offers such as this one.

Nathan glanced around, pinpointed the bed he thought was hers and sat down on it.
"I will. Now, do you see how easy that was, Kate? I offered you something, you accepted and now you don't have to be alone tonight, lamenting the fact that you didn't like my very good nightlight idea."

Or they were for weaning children off of sleeping with the lights on. One or the other.
"But..." He sighed and made himself at home on her bed because, well, he was staying the night. "...I am so much better than a nightlight and I never go out."
no subject
"Yeah, I keep hearing stuff more or less to that effect."

[OH HI 4 AM. Niight!]
no subject
Yes, he did but he could pretend that he didn't. Contrary to all evidence, he could find his very well hidden self control.
"I find you mediocre at best and that's being polite."
[Ahahahaha, INSANE. Good night!]

Except for the fear of the dark and everything.

Eloquence was such a talent of his.
"You'll have to find something else to occupy your time until you eventually fall asleep."
