Somewhere in Maryland, Friday Evening

So, Kate and Bod had decided to get the hell off the island and away from the constant rain of future Japan. They'd packed some stuff, rented a car, and off they'd gone.

They were... somewhere in Maryland, now. Kate wasn't exactly sure where, and didn't particularly care, though maybe she should have, since she was currently driving and all. Maybe they'd know where they were going once they saw it.

She glanced over at Bod. "Can you try and find something good on the radio?" She was still too much of an old lady driver to start fiddling with the car stereo while they were in motion.

"I know you're willing to try anything," Kate murmured and yes, it totally sounded like innuendo. "I think you should try getting me wet."

And that was meant innocently. Mostly.

Bod let go of her with one of his hands and cupped some water before splashing it up onto her shoulders. "Just like that?"

Kate yelped, not really having expected that. "I was thinking more along the lines of getting all wet all at once."

"Very well," he said, getting a tighter hold on her before dropping down underneath the ocean's waves and taking her with him.

Kate made a sound, but had the good sense to keep from squealing in favor of holding her breath, because no one needed to be getting a lungful of water when they were trying to have fun.

She clung to him as he took her into water.

Bod spun them around a few times while they were underneath the water before he surfaces, shaking his hair out and grinning. He leaned forward to catch a quick kiss from her.

"How was that?"

"Excellent," Kate snickered, half into an ocean water flavored kiss. "I can barely see."

That had a lot to do with the way some of her wet hair had gotten plastered over her face.

Bod could help with that. He pushed some of her wet hair out of her face and behind her ears. "You have a lot of hair."

"I know, I should get it trimmed," Kate replied, smiling at him. "I'm starting to look like a hippie."

"I think you have a ways to go before you look like a hippie," Bod told her, laughing. He leaned forward and kissed her again. "It's nice when it's long."

Getting her hands on both sides of his neck, she snagged a slightly more lingering kiss from him before replying.

"It's bohemian chic."

"It's sexy," he said, deciding that was a much better word for it. "I like being able to run my fingers through it."

"I wasn't going to cut it very short," Kate assured him with a little laugh, then raised her eyebrows. "Wait, did you just call my hair sexy?"

"Yes." He nodded. "Why?"

[vanillajello]

"No reason," she said. "Just... It's just one of those words I rarely hear from you."

[therewaslife]

"Well, that doesn't mean I don't think it," Bod said, laughing. "Your hair is sexy. So are you."

[vanillajello]

"That doesn't mean I don't treasure it when you say it," Kate retorted. "Thank you."

[therewaslife]

"You're welcome," he said, hugging her close to him again. "Did you want to stay in here or go back to the tent or go elsewhere?"

[vanillajello]

"I want to be wherever you are," Kate told him, and snagged another kiss. "But maybe the tent? We have all night to get back in the water if we feel like it."

[therewaslife]

"Tent, then," he said, keeping his arms around her while he backed them slowly out of the water. "We have all night. And I haven't gone night swimming in quite awhile."

"I'm not sure I ever have," Kate replied, catching a kiss or two while walking since he was still holding her close. "That's a good plan for later. But right now, I think nesting in the tent could be good."

"I think nesting in the tent could be amazing," Bod agreed, walking them out of the ocean until he felt sand and could see their swimsuits nearby. "Should we get dressed again?"

[vanillajello]

"I think that depends on your willingness to take a chance with streaking back to the tent versus your willingness to get dressed only to strip again not too long after," Kate told him. "'Cause I think I'm gonna insist nesting involve naked cuddling."

Bod laughed and looked down at their swimsuits. "What do you think? Do you want to get dressed or should we streak?"

"We're probably never coming here again," Kate replied. "Or, at least, whoever we might see on the way isn't someone we'll be meeting again..."

There was an answer in there somewhere.
