Room 324, Friday Afternoon

Kate was still recuperating. Her night, once she'd bothered to even try pretending she wanted to fall asleep, had been fitful and filled with nightmares, and hadn't left her feeling particularly refreshed.

Still, she'd tried to get back into some normal kind of feeling today. She'd eaten, and she'd showered, and she'd tried do positive, normal things. Having noticed there was a Strawberry Social today, and that the weather had finally cleared, she'd even gotten as far as slipping on a red dress before she'd realized that she had absolutely no inclination whatsoever for being social in a large crowd of people today. None. She was pretty sure she'd either end up hanging around the edges or leaving way early. Or maybe crying again. So, it was best just not to go at all. She wasn't feeling normal enough for that.

So, she'd picked up her laptop and flopped onto her bed, stomach down. She'd just be overdressed for some casual surfing. Pretty things, nothing dark or depressing.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted me to stay," Bod admitted, feeling sheepish. He crossed his arms and glanced down at her. "I can do that, if you'd like. I just wanted to see how you were but I didn't want to overwhelm you by being around too much."

"You're not a crowd," Kate told him gently. "And I feel much more like a person today." If not an entirely functional one. "Stay. I can give you your privacy for the shower if you want it, but I don't want you to leave."

"Of course I'll stay," Bod said, nodding. "Of course I will. And you don't have to give me my privacy if you'd rather not. But, I won't leave. I'll just go in and have a shower."

"Good," she replied, nodding as well. "You can use some of my shower stuff if you're not afraid of smelling floral."

"I've smelled floral before, I'll be fine with smelling floral again," he said, giving her a brief wave before he disappeared into her bathroom. He did leave the door open, though.

Meanwhile, Kate turned her laptop off and closed it. Then she finally got off her bed again, to take the computer to her desk.

That done, she just... sort of stood there, unsure.

The water came on in the bathroom and after getting out of his flour stained t-shirt, jeans and boxers, Bod stepped inside and let the water beat down on his back and neck. He'd gotten a little stiff while he was at work and now he was hoping a hot shower might ease the tension some.

Kate figured something similar. Sure, she'd already taken a shower but it had been a cold one, meant to do the same as her extra large cup of coffee, which was to wake her the hell up. And she was awake enough right now.

Having checked that the door to the room was properly closed, she slid her dress and her underwear off, carelessly dropping them on the floor before slipping into the bathroom and closing that door behind herself, too.

Bod thought he heard some movement outside the shower but he wasn't sure if it was Kate just getting him a shirt or something else. He kept his head bowed and let the water beat against his back and neck. It was hot enough to make his pale skin red but not hot enough to burn.

Kate hadn't even thought about getting him a shirt yet. She'd do that later, after a sufficient time of shirtlessness. Or something.

He'd know it wasn't shirt-related movement, in any case, once she slid into the shower behind him.

"Hullo there," Bod said, keeping his eyes on the tile even while acknowledging her by straightening up a touch. "You wanted a shower too?"

"It seemed like a nice thing to do," she replied, hands going up to his shoulders for a gentle bit of massage. "Hi."

"The water is quite nice," he sighed, straightening even more and closing his eyes. "So are your hands. That feels good."

[vanillajello]

"Good," she replied, and kept her hands kneading at any points of tension she could feel. "It's meant to."

She'd probably find a lot of tension in his neck and shoulders that he hadn't even realized was there. "I thought I was supposed to be making you feel better."

"I wasn't aware there was a rule," Kate replied lightly. "I can stop."

She had no intention of doing that.

"I just didn't want to overwhelm you," Bod said, bringing that up yet again. "I know things are...a bit fragile right now."

[vanillajello]

"They'll get better," she replied. "I'll tell you if you're overwhelming me, okay?"

[therewaslife]

"All right," he agreed with a sigh. "I won't get angry if you do so please do tell me. I won't get angry."

[vanillajello]

"I know you won't," she said, leaning in to briefly rest her forehead against the back of his neck, even while her hands kept working at his shoulders. "I know that."

"We've had a bad week," he sighed, closing his eyes and just contenting himself with the feel of her. "It should get better next week."

"It should." Oh, optimism in Fandom. They really should have known better by now. "It would be the only fair thing to happen right now."

[therewaslife]

"We'll be all right even if a good week doesn't happen," Bod decided, nodding. "I decree it and thus, it should come true."

Her laugh, quiet as it was, took her by surprise.

"I support that motion," she muttered. Her hands moved away from his shoulders so that she could slide her arms around his waist instead, plastering herself against his back, wet skin to wet skin.

Bod sighed again and it sounded more content than he'd sounded in awhile. This was nice. He liked this.

"This is nice," he murmured quietly. "You're warm and wet."
