Overland Park, KS, An Afternoon in May [Sunday Fandom Time]

Some might have said that it was stupid to be hauling boxes and boxes of your stuff from your parents' house to your new room in your aunt's house when you were about to leave for where you actually still lived, which was a dorm room across the country, give or take a few dimensions and island oddities.

Kate just thought it was therapeutic. It was human, and it was nice to be making a new space her own. Plus, she'd had her boyfriend around to help her carry the boxes and unpack some of the things. And Charmaine was off somewhere with Tara, which meant she and her belly weren't fussing around about where Kate put her crap. Kate needed something like that, something nice like that to end the few good days she'd had at home since Bod had decided to join her.

It was good, and she looked happy as she flopped down on the bed in her new room, sufficiently pleased with how the room looked with a few personal touches, even if the majority of her things remained next door. "This is great."

Bod hadn't gotten to the flopping stage of things since he was still stacking and settling boxes to give both Kate and her pregnant aunt wide enough walkways so that no one would get hurt.

"Are you going to take a nap and leave me to all the unpacking?" Bod teased playfully.

"No," Kate replied, smiling lazily at him. "But I might lay here and watch you while I leave you to all the unpacking?"

"Are you going to make inappropriate comments while I do that?" Bod asked, opening one of the boxes nearby to unpack a few more things. "Should I just take my shirt off now?"

"Yes." Well, he'd asked! She was only being honest. And smirky. "Though I'm going to be making inappropriate comments whatever you do."

"So, there's no need to take off my shirt, then?" Bod teased, pulling out a few odds and ends from the box. "I guess that means I could keep it on..."

Kate wrinkled her nose at him. "That's not what I said. Don't try to trick me."

"I would never try and trick you," Bod said, laughing. "I just don't want to expose you to partial nudity if it's not what you had in mind."

"Do you remember who you're talking to?" Kate wondered, raising an eyebrow. "If I have my way, this room is gonna be seeing a lot of nudity of various stages from you, might as well start now."

"You don't think your aunt's going to have something to say about that?" Bod wondered but he did reach for the hem of his shirt. "She might ban nudity. It could happen."

"She was pregnant at the altar because she couldn't resist nudity from someone who wasn't her boyfriend," Kate retorted easily, sticking one hand under her head on the pillows. "She has no room to judge. 'Sides, there's a completely closable door right there if you're worried about bans."

Bod couldn't really see an issue with taking his shirt off when they were in an empty house so he slipped his shirt off easily and tossed it on a nearby box.

"And now I should just unpack things?" he asked, glancing over at her.

"Uh huh," Kate replied, nodding slowly. After a mandatory wolf whistle at his shirtlessness. "Or, I guess you could come over here and join me in my laziness. Though that might go against your sensible, productive nature."

"You might not get anything unpacked if I join you," Bod pointed out, chuckling. "The boxes will just sit here and become convenient end tables for you."

"Would that really be so bad?" Kate wondered with a faux thoughtful pout. "I'm sure I'll eventually be bored and unpack."

"I think you just want me to come over there," Bod said, eventually leaving the opened box and coming over to stand at the foot of the edge. "Hmm?"

"Oh, I think you might be onto me, boyfriend," Kate replied, smirking up at him. "Me and my devious ways."

"Do you have devious things on your mind?" wondered Bod as he put a knee on the bed and crawled up closer to her.

"I might," she teased as she watched him move. "We'll be back in Fandom soon. That might make me more devious here."

"What sorts of devious things do you have on your mind?" Bod asked, crawling until he was hovering over her and smiling.

Kate reached a hand up to just gently brush her fingers through the hair at his temple. "Nothing fancy," she said. "Just... making this room ours."

Technically hers, but.

"And how would we do that?" Bod asked, leaning into her hand and sighing.

[vanillajello]

"Well, I doubt that book I gave you has an entry on sex at your girlfriend's new digs," Kate replied, pressing her palm against his cheek as her fingers played with his hair, "but I think it could be a great way to stake claim on a place."

Bod's cheeks flamed up and he laughed, unable to stop it from sounding a little shy. "Are you -- you're all right for that? The book didn't have an entry on that, no."

Kate couldn't help smiling fondly at his blush and his shy little laugh. "Your blushing cheeks say I'm all right for that," she murmured. "I love you."

"I know," he said and turned his head to kiss the palm of her hand. "I love you too. I just wanted to check. I'm all right for that too."
