Some might have said that it was stupid to be hauling boxes and boxes of your stuff from your parents' house to your new room in your aunt's house when you were about to leave for where you actually still lived, which was a dorm room across the country, give or take a few dimensions and island oddities.

Kate just thought it was therapeutic. It was human, and it was nice to be making a new space her own. Plus, she'd had her boyfriend around to help her carry the boxes and unpack some of the things. And Charmaine was off somewhere with Tara, which meant she and her belly weren't fussing around about where Kate put her crap. Kate needed something like that, something nice like that to end the few good days she'd had at home since Bod had decided to join her.

It was good, and she looked happy as she flopped down on the bed in her new room, sufficiently pleased with how the room looked with a few personal touches, even if the majority of her things remained next door. "This is great."

"Good," she sighed. "You do too. You make me... totally stupidly happy."

"Good," Bod breathed, feeling more of his stupid happiness wash over him just at hearing her say that. "I want to do keep doing that for as long as I possibly can. For however long you'll let me."

"Indefinitely." Which was better than saying forever, because forever was a big and scary word and there didn't need to be any pointless flailing today. "God, we are mushy."

"We are," he laughed and kissed the tip of her nose. "But didn't you, at one point, want to be one of those insufferably mushy couples? We are now."

"I probably did," Kate admitted, wrinkling her nose and chuckling a bit. "I still do. And we totally are. I have so many friends who would mock me if they knew."

"And then you could tell them what I'm like behind closed doors to combat the perception of mushiness," Bod suggested with a laugh. "I wouldn't want you to get a bad reputation."

"I think I overshare enough as it is." She'd blame that on Nathan, though. "But I adore how you are behind closed doors. Or against closed doors."

"Stop that," he joked, blushing again. "I fear for the day the doors on the island come to life and make fun of me for that."

"But there's nothing to make fun of," she retorted. "It was a very manly thing to do."

"And how do you know what the door might say?" Bod laughed, shaking his head. "It might have disliked that...feeling."

"It's a door," Kate argued. "It should just be glad to have gotten a change from the routine of being opened and closed all the time."

"I love that you're arguing with me over what a door might feel," he laughed, shaking his head. "Only you, Kate. Only you."

She snorted again, amused. "Well, you once told me you think I'd just wither away and die if I didn't argue with you, so..."

"Indeed," he said and kissed her again. "Should we get up?"

"And get dressed? Probably." Though not before she'd snagged one last kiss. Call it an addiction to his lips, and once that was sufficiently dealt with, she pulled away and started to get up. "Guess it'll be time to go soon."

"We'll come back," Bod promised, climbing off her bed as well. "If not here, somewhere else where it's just us and a bed or a hammock or something where we can lay around. I promise."

"The hammock thing is really growing on me," Kate replied, looking for her shirt then slipping it on once she'd located it. "You should get on that."

"Yes, ma'am," Bod said, giving her a little salute before pulling his boxer shorts and jeans up. "As soon as we arrive back to the island, I'll begin my quest to find the perfect hammock."

"And a place to put it," Kate replied, sounding amused. Her underwear was next, then the skirt. "Unless it's kind of a package deal."

"I think I know where I'm going to put it," Bod answered, sliding on his shirt and running his fingers through his hair. "Do I look suspicious or anything?"

"You look fine," she said, but came over to straighten his shirt and make sure the tag was tucked in, anyway. "There. Perfectly innocent."

"Thank you," he said and smiled at her before leaning in for a light kiss. "Should we unpack further or pack for the island or something else?"

"We can probably just go pack for the island," Kate replied with a cursory glance around the room. "All this stuff can wait."

"That sounds like a good plan to me," Bod decided, nodding. "I'm sure the boxes will still be here when you next make it back here."

"And assuming it's not at the same time," Kate remarked with a lopsided smile, "most of them will probably even still be here when you come here next. They can wait."
