Philosoraptor A1, Late Saturday Afternoon

Kate no longer had a depressing pink Vespa in storage on the mainland. Instead, she had a nice sum of money on her bank account and plans on how to spend it on things the girly scooter and all it stood for had put on hold for so many months. Things like the little box that was safe inside her bag right now, so tiny but yet so important. The Vespa seemed to have been like that, too. Only in a seriously skeevy and bad way. It felt freeing to have gotten rid of it.

She was online again, sprawling on her narrow bed as she searched for more things to include in her plans. It made for a nice weekend afternoon activity, and it was definitely better than what she'd been doing a week ago.

So much could change in a week. She should have learned that by now.

Bod had gone into town for lunch and while he'd been planning on eating it right there in the diner, he'd changed his mind and ordered more than he'd planned.

Now, he was knocking on the outside of Kate's alcove, holding a bag of food he was sure she'd help him eat. If she didn't, he'd have to eat it all and well, he would. He didn't like to waste food.

"It's open," Kate called out absently, clicking on some more thing. "... It's not a door but it's still openable."

Bod didn't immediately step inside. Instead, he thrust the bag of still hot food inside and shook it back and forth. He didn't say anything but he was grinning outside the curtain.

Kate glanced up quizzically at the noise, then snickered when she saw the bag. "Funny," she called out, "I don't remember ordering anything."

"Oh, did I get the wrong alcove?" Bod asked, poking his head inside and glancing down at the bag. "Forgive me, I'll go find the right place. It was a pleasure to see you, ma'am."

He disappeared outside the curtain again but didn't move away from her door.

Kate just laughed. "Hey, ma'am is reserved for my mom and Charmaine!" she called after him, not believing for a second he'd gone far.

"And what should I call you?" Bod asked, poking his head back inside once again. "Katherine Michelle? Miss Gregson? Madame?"

"You can call me hungry," Kate replied, pushing the laptop screen down, then pushing herself up from her sprawling to more of a sitting position, making grabby motions in his general direction. "Because that's what I am."

"Well, then you should partake in the lunch I brought you," he said, sliding into the alcove and passing her the bag. Inside the bag, she'd find a few sandwiches, some onion rings, and some containers of soup. "I was going to eat at the diner but I figured this might be more fun for us both."

"You're just trying to fatten me up," Kate joked, as if that was even possible. She pulled a sandwich out of the bag. "Obviously."

"...is that even possible?" Bod asked, kicking shoes off and sliding out of his jacket before sitting down next to her. "You eat a lot already and you're still thin as a rail."

"Hey, I am not thin as a rail!" Kate protested, even holding off on taking a bite to do that. "I have some muscles going, come on!"

Yeah, those two things weren't really mutually exclusive.

"You can have muscles and still be thin as a rail," Bod said, leaning over and giving her a noisy kiss on the cheek before reaching for the bag to grab some onion rings. "You're thin and that's just how you are. Thin and tall."

"I'm not tall," she replied, smiling at that kiss but arguing just to argue. "I'm very average height."

"Yes but your legs are very long so that makes you look taller," he replied, settling down on her bed and eating some of the onion rings. "You give the illusion of being tall."

"And then I go stand next to Nathan," she said, around a bite of sandwich, like a lady. "And suddenly, not so tall."

[therewaslife]

"Well, I'd only have eyes for you," he said and blew her a kiss before wiping his greasy fingers on her shirt because he was feeling a little playful today.

Kate stopped and stared at him, and he was very lucky indeed that she looked amused.

"Really? You couldn't have eyes for me and, say, a napkin or two?"

"Why would I look at a napkin when I could look at you?" Bod wondered, laughing now and not even caring. "You're so much better than napkins."

"But you could wipe your fingers on a napkin." In case he didn't know that. "I'm not one, you know."

"I know," he said and blushed at that. "I was just being, I don't know. I was just being playful. I didn't mean to do anything that upset you."

Kate said nothing to that. She did, however, finish off her sandwich, only to idly reach over and wipe her hands on his shirt.

So there.

Bod just laughed at that and then offered her an onion ring. "Does that make us even? We're both napkins now?"

"Apparently so," she replied as she snagged the onion ring from him. "And I wouldn't want to deter you from being playful."

Bod chuckled and let her take the onion ring so he could finish the rest of them off. "And what have you been doing today, girlfriend of mine?"
