Hawi, Hawaii, Sunday Early Evening

One of the good things about living in Fandom was getting to use Portalocity. So, when an obnoxious dude happened to stumble upon incriminating videos of a dark part of your life you would have rather buried and never thought about again, and you ended up punching him in his stupid face, and then found yourself anxious to get off the island because it was making you feel pukey and bad... You could hit up Portalocity for a package deal on portals to a cottage in Hawaii.

Kate had portalled out ahead to set some stuff up in advance before Bod got there. Those things included mundane stuff like getting groceries, but also special things like a hammock fit for two between two trees in the yard. It was important to have one. Right now, it was.

And there were one or two other things as well. Since the portal was not too far from the cottage, Kate had just texted Bod the address and a picture of the building, and was waiting for him on the kitchen, wearing the dress she'd not gone to a party in not too much earlier. She was resting her elbows on the railing, and beside her there were an empty jar, and a quickly made sign that said 'KISSING BOOTH'. Because she was a dork.

A dork who really, really felt like she needed to be with her boyfriend right now.

"Nothing much," Kate confirmed. "Just things like trying to remember what I read about any nearby attractions and stuff like that."

"Oh?" he asked, finishing his juice up and settling the bottle back down near his side. "Anything in particular you'd like to do?"

"Well, there's the actual town, at least," she mused. "You know, Hawi or whatever? Plus, if we can manage to rent a car we can go pretty much anywhere on the island."

"I think we'll be able to rent a car," he decided with a nod. A few of his fingers found their way into her hair and he started running them through the blonde strands. "If not, there's always taxi cabs."

"There are," Kate agreed, sighing at the feel of his fingers. "Which is good because there are places I wanna go. Like that chocolate factory that's called, like, Donkey Balls or something. That's too hilarious to resist."

"...Donkey Balls?" Bod asked, snickering. "Are you teasing me about that?"

"No!" she exclaimed with a laugh. "No, I swear to God, that place exists. From what I can remember, Donkey Balls is like their most classic product or something. Macadamia nuts covered in chocolate."

Bod laughed again and scratched her scalp lightly. "I think you just want to tell people we went to Donkey Balls!"

"No." A beat. "I want to tell people we had Donkey Balls."

[therewaslife]

"You're horrible," he said and kissed the top of her head. "You're awful and horrible and you'd better be extra loving to me that day if you want me to partake in Donkey Balls."

"Oh come on, they're just nuts in chocolate!" How she managed to say that with a straight face, she'd never know. "What, are you expecting me to be immature about it?"

Oh hell yes.

"Of course I do!" Bod laughed, shaking his head. "I know you and I fully expect you to be immature!"

"That's insulting," Kate decided, trying to sound offended. She failed. "I'm intending to be totally mature."

He was so going to end up with a Donkey Ball Store t-shirt.

[therewaslife]

"I will be completely and utterly shocked if you decide to be mature," Bod said, nodding. "Completely and utterly."

"Such little faith," she tsked, sighing. "Good thing I'm assuming you still like me when I'm immature."

[therewaslife]

"Of course I still like you when you're immature," Bod laughed, nodding. "Of course. I just know you're going to be immature. It's in your very nature."

"Okay that bordering on actually insulting," Kate replied, but with a chuckle. "No one wants to know that immaturity is a part of their very nature."

[therewaslife]

"I wasn't trying to be insulting, I promise," Bod said, wincing. "I just meant that immaturity is something that's part of your character in regards to certain things. Not everything. In silly situations, immaturity's just a perfect companion."

"Relax, I wasn't trying to, like, bait you into a fight or anything," she assured him with a laugh. "And yes, I'm planning to be immature about you eating Donkey Balls."

[therewaslife]

"And maybe you'll coax me into being immature as well," Bod teased, grinning. "I bet I could manage it if I know no one's going to mind."

"But surely you don't have an immature bone in your body?" Kate teased him back. "Aren't you very mature and respectable?"

[therewaslife]

"I am," Bod claimed, laughing. "But, if there's anyone that can find the hidden immature bone in my body, it's you."

"Mm, well, maybe I'll try and find it," she replied with a smirk. "For my amusement."

[therewaslife]

"You should definitely try," Bod agreed with a nod. "The attempts at finding it will amuse me so it's win win all around."

"And I have a pretty high success rate," Kate noted. "I mean, look at all the stuff I've had you doing that you probably never expected to happen until I came along."
