Overland Park, KS, Saturday Fandom Time

As requested/ordered, Kate had gone and gotten her face checked out by a doctor yesterday, and then spent the rest of the day doing absolutely nothing. Today was turning out to be much the same, except her face was sightly less sore to the touch, and she was waiting for Bod to show up after his workshift.

And while she was doing that, she was reading up on all things Osaka and Japan on the internet, and trying to learn useful phrases in Japanese. It was a quiet day in the Craine – Gregson – Kowalski household. Charmaine and Neil were downstairs, presumably reading yet another one of the dozen baby books he'd bought after the false labor fiasco. Who'd have tought he'd be the responsible one?

It was funny to think so with a still-bruised face, but maybe things were starting to look up a little bit.

"We'll hope that it doesn't happen," he said, reaching to brush some of her hair back, "but we'll deal with it if it does."

"Preferably in ways that don't involve me having to tackle anyone," Kate agreed, wryly. "As badass a move as that is."

"My poor girlfriend," Bod said, smiling at her. "You've had a rough weekend. Hopefully there's no more of those for awhile."

"Hopefully." Kate... maybe did not believe that was possible, but she could still hope. "I'd rather just focus on the positive drama of Japan."

"Well, you've passed a few hurdles already, haven't you?" Bod pointed out. "You're getting there."

"I am," she said, and smiled again. "And I'm so gonna get there. It's a huge thing but I wanna do it."

"And I know that once you put your mind to something, you will do it," Bod said and smiled at her. "I'm proud of you."

Kate looked down and smiled in that way that tended to betray her feelings about anyone expressing pride over her. As smug as she acted, it was still a big deal for her.

"Thanks," she murmured. "I try."

"And you will do it," he said, leaning over and pressing a kiss atop her head. "I know you will but you won't do it today because I'm ordering you to continue resting. I know you're all right but you should still rest."

"Bossy," she chuckled. "Fine, I'm gonna rest. But you're gonna have to cuddle with me. In a way that doesn't hurt my face."

"We can do that thing where we lay on our sides?" Bod suggested. "Unless someone goes wild with an arm, there's no way to hurt your face."

"Well, I'm not gonna go wild with an arm," Kate replied, with a snicker. "And if you go wild with an arm, I'm gonna smack you. So, we should be good."

"Well, you thought I might bite your cheek earlier," Bod said, settling down on his side and gesturing her closer. "Maybe I thought you were going to go wild with your arm."

"Well, I'm not," she assured him, flopping down onto her side. "I'll be very tame."

"Then, we'll both be safe from wild arms," he said, smiling and trying to pull her back against him. "Come here so I can cuddle with you."

Kate moved willingly, tucking herself close against him. "So bossy," she said, anyway. "So so bossy."

"Yes, well, I learned from the best," he said, draping an arm over her and situating one of his legs between both of hers. "So, thank you for teaching me how to be bossy."

"You're welcome," she sighed, resting her arm over his. "Even if you did pretty much just blame me for my plight of your bossiness."

"Yes, I did," he said, tucking his face against her neck and sighing too. "You should take it as a compliment.

"Rather that than an insult," Kate agreed. "It's kind of a weird compliment, but then again that's us, isn't it?"

"We're a strange pair," he said and kissed the back of her neck, "and I wouldn't change anything about that."

"Yeah, me neither," she replied, with another soft sigh, closing her eyes. "I love you, English Muffin. Aishiteru."

"I love you too, Cuddle Bunny," he murmured. "Amo."

He knew another language too.

Kate chuckled a bit. "Mm. I'm glad you're here. I know I already said that but it's still true. We should... take advantage of this and nap. 'Cause you want me to rest so bad."

"I want you to rest and continue to heal," he said, eyes already shut while he let her warmth relax him. "I think a nap could help with that, though."
