Yesterday, Charmaine and Neil had gotten married in a tiny municipal wedding ceremony that had somehow been better for everyone than Charmaine's previous attempt at a marriage. And early today, the newly wedded couple, along with their infant daughter, had taken off for Houston to go househunting. And Kate was already feeling weird that it was really just her and Marshall and Bod around, now.

So it was a good thing this was the day she'd invited people to come visit. Some booze had been acquired, and Marshall had busied himself in the kitchen making snacks, and they were all set. It was going to be weird since Kate had invited a bunch of people who'd never been to Kansas before, but she was hoping it would be a fun kind of weird.

"All right, perhaps I'll get some milk," Bod said, getting to his feet. He knew that wasn't what she meant but he didn't care. "I do like milk."

Kate gave that a sigh of mock exasperation. "Why are you my boyfriend again, exactly?"

"Because I am irresistible to you," Bod joked, stepping closer. "And you know it."

"Something like that," Kate smirked, watching him move closer. "Are you going to establish your territory now?"

"There are quite a few nice looking gentleman here," he said, moving until his lips were just touching hers. "I just want them all to know that I'm with you."

Kate snickered, but let him have his closeness. "How possessive."

"Mmm." He kissed her lightly. "Do you approve?"

"As long as you don't overdo it," she murmured. "Clubbing me over the head and dragging me off to your cave would be a bit much."

"But, Kate," he said, giving her another light kiss, "I don't have a cave. Your logic is faulty."

"But you have a bedroom," she pointed out. "Well, we have one. I meant that as a metaphorical cave."

"I don't think you need to worry about me being overly possessive," Bod assured her. "I've already claimed you as you have me. That's all I need."

"Good," Kate replied, pulling back a little bit and smiling at him. "'Cause I think most people here would want to have a word with you if you overdid it."

Friends and family were like that.

"I won't be overdoing it," he said, smiling. "Now, go mingle and enjoy your friends. You can see me anytime you want. I've been living here. Go enjoy yourself, Cuddle Bunny."

"Aye aye, Captain Muffin," Kate replied, grinning. "Try not to be a nerd all night."

She gave him another kiss, then wandered off to greet someone else, excitably.
