Weeping Angel A4, Friday After Classes

Kate was fighting a losing battle.

Namely, one of trying to stuff all her surprise luggage under her bed. There were just too many. They would never fit. But she just had to try. Not like she wanted them just laying around, when they had labels like Too much responsibility, Pushed around by skeevy guys and Heart bruised by Southern idiot.

And of course, that one fucking luggage set with the label Crazy mother issues.

Eventually though, she just gave up, letting a few of the bags that wouldn't fit just stay in sight. She was just going to flop down on the bed and be thankful that at least she'd been able to push that one black leather bag (which for some reason looked like an old-fashioned doctor's bag, and which had the words That one awful Saturday labelled on it) as far back under the bed as it would go.

Fucking Fandom.

Kate shook her head, just slightly, against his neck.

And found herself chuckling quietly. Almost surprised herself with it.

"God, you're so-- Nevermind."

"I'm so nevermind?" he joked, turning to glance at her from the corners of his eyes. "That doesn't make much sense, Kate. You should clarify."

"Yes," she replied, pulling back enough to see him and give him a hint of a smile. "You're so nevermind. Not my fault if you don't understand what it means."

"No, I think it's your fault for not making much sense," he said, shrugging and shaking his head. "I can't tell if that's an endearment of some kind of an insult. So many people have taken to insulting me lately, after all."

"My alcove, my rules," she said. "I don't have to make sense if I don't want to."

"So, I'm to live in suspense of what I am, then?" Bod asked, trying to sound oh so put upon. "Your alcove has mean rules."

"The alcove of the evil, difficult, messed up girl has mean rules," Kate deadpanned. "I'm sure you couldn't possibly have seen that one coming."

"Perhaps I predicted as much," Bod said, nodding in agreement. "Besides, you've only made the one rule. So, your statement isn't entirely true."

"Then neither was yours," she countered lightly. "You're the one who said rules, plural, first."

[therewaslife]

"Huh. I guess it wasn't," Bod admitted after a moment. "Still, I'm not the one making the rules of the alcove so I think I can afford to be wrong. It's not my alcove."

"No, it's not," Kate agreed with a nod. "It's mine, and I make the rules, and that means... I can never be wrong."

No, it probably didn't mean that, but hush, she was allowed her fun.

"So." Bod tilted his head, trying not to laugh. "So, you can't be wrong and don't have to make sense. What sorts of things can I do?"

"Oh I'm not concerned about things like that," she said, waving one of her hands behind his back for (pointless) emphasis. "I'll tell you if you're screwing up, I promise."

"I think you might be dooming yourself to me just sitting here, trying not to move so I don't do anything wrong," said Bod, not at all serious. "I wouldn't want to be excused from your alcove."

Kate snickered. "Where's your sense of adventure?" she wondered. "I promise I won't make up any strict rules for you. Not like i want you to leave or anything."

[therewaslife]

"I'm adventurous," he argued, mock frowning at her. "There's only so much I can really do in an alcove filled with baggage that's small in the first place. I don't know how adventurous it is, though."

"A little bit of adventure is still adventure," she decided. "Anyway, you were just threatening not to move. I had every right to think you're not adventurous."

[therewaslife]

"Our definitions of adventurous might be a little different," Bod pointed out, using his position to lean forward, press a few light kisses against her neck and throat. "And I don't think I could ever be perfectly still around you. You have ways of...inspiring reactions."

Yes, that was his way of implying something dirty. Don't be surprised.

Kate wasn't surprised. Snickering, though, that she was. And tilting her head away from him a bit.

"Really?"

Oh, she knew she did. She just liked hearing him say it.

"You know that already, I know you do," Bod said, keeping his lips against her neck. "I'm not going to tell you how, you know that. You can use your imagination."

"It's okay, I have an awesome imagination," she replied, lowering her voice for no particular reason. "And also, I think I could just use my memory. There's stuff there, too."

"I know. There are things there too." It wasn't like he didn't have similar memories. He thought about them often. "Do you have a favorite? Memory or similar?"

"You're my favorite," she said quietly by his ear. "Other than that it's whatever happens to interest me the most at a particular moment."

[therewaslife]

"I'm your favorite?" he repeated, sounding pleased and feeling warmed by that simple statement. "That's brave, thinking someone who annoys you so much is your favorite. Brave or masochistic."

Whichever, he liked knowing that. Quite a lot.

"I'm pretty sure I've called myself both of those at some point." Not that either was necessarily true. "Don't let it go to your head."
