Room 324, Late Friday Morning

It was Kate's birthday.

Not that that was much evident from anything, except maybe the slightly stilted happy birthday phonecall she'd gotten from her dad earlier, and the far more animated one from Lynda a little later. But it was still her birthday. Seventeen. Hmmh.

She was grabbing a portal to KC in the evening to join Lynda in the Crossroads district's First Friday art thing. And afterwards she was going to take another portal back, and tomorrow morning Lynda was going to fly over to be her weekend guest.

But for now? She was lazing about in a skimpy top and shorts (it was her birthday, she thought she was allowed) with some candy and a random bad movie on her laptop. And wearing her Princess Valhalla boots for no real reason, other than having just checked the insane number of hits on her video.

So far it was an okay birthday.

"Yes," she whispered, smiling herself. What was there not to smile about? "I would like one very much."

Bod whispered, "Happy birthday," before closing that last small bit of distance so he could kiss her. He started it slowly at first but deep, making sure there was nothing light or lazy about it. It was just a deep, slow, meaningful kiss for the moment.

Just what she'd asked for. Kate responded in kind, nothing lazy or idle in any way about her lips moving against his. She let him lead, though, just enjoying the general warmth of it.

Bod nudged her backwards, trying to get her to lay down against so he could cover her with his body and make that kiss even better. He'd done this enough with her now that he didn't even need to stop kissing her to do that. Since there was no way he was going to stop, that was a good thing.

And Kate had done this enough with him to be really good at doing whatever he wanted her to, if that seemed to benefit her. In this instance, that meant laying back.

And that was totally beneficial to her. Nothing at all wrong with the propsect of him on top of her.

Bod was glad she felt that way because soon enough, he was on top of her and letting his weight settle against her and his mouth kept moving slowly and deeply against hers. Idly, he hoped she didn't kick him with those impressive boots of hers but that thought slid away quickly.

It slid away because of her mouth and her soft skin and how good her body always felt underneath his.

Kate was at least not intending to kick him, no, even if accidents happened. She didn't have many intentions in general, either. The boots were the thickest thing she was wearing, so it was easy to enjoy the weight and feel and warmth of him.

Who needed intentions when there was all that to feel?

Bod was a little more clothed than her so she was going to feel more where that was concerned but he didn't care. He could deal with feeling a little less since it wasn't his birthday and she wasn't the one trying to make the kiss memorable.

That was his job and his goal and his aim. That was his hope with how he deepened that kiss even more, quickened it a bit and pushed his body against hers eagerly.

He was succeeding, at least if Kate's equally eager responses were anything to go by. She followed his lead smoothly, giving him back what he was giving to her.

Idly, she considered pushing up against him, but there were better ways to keep him pressed against her. Like sliding her hands to his back, and dragging her nails over his shirt, hard enough for him to feel that despite the fabric.

It didn't have to be his birthday for her to do that.

Bod twitched when she did that, pushing up hard against her hands to feel more sharpness like that. It wasn't his birthday but he wanted more that anyway. Bod moved enough that one of his legs was on the outside of her hips, pressed against it. It meant more leverage for him later and made it easier for him to arch into her hands.

All very good things, Kate thought. And she pressed down harder with her nails, pleased with the way he was reacting to it. It was a curious thing, but she didn't question it. Just one of his many quirks, and she wanted to discover them all.

Especially the ones she could discover while kissing him, because those were the best ones.

If asked, Bod probably couldn't explain why he liked it so much either. It just felt good and he didn't really think about how. Instead, he was going to move one of his hands down to slide under her shirt.

His hand was warm and her skin was too so he didn't really waste time moving his fingers up her stomach and across her ribs, tickling and touching as he did.

It made her twitch underneath him, a few times, when his hand wet over areas of skin that were actually a little ticklish. But that was not a bad thing in the least. Kind of fun, actually.

Fun enough for her to keep teasing his skin through his shirt. It was nice to leave marks, even if they were temporary.

He liked when she left marks on him, temporary or not. It was heady to catch a glimpse of his skin later and see the red marks and know they were from her and only her. Just thinking about that made Bod bite down lightly on Kate's lower lip to tease it between his teeth.

Her lip got teased at the same time as his fingers bumped along her ribs, counting them quietly in his head. She was tiny enough to do that.

Tiny and kind of bony in places, at least while laying on her back like that. And once his fingers would travel high enough, they'd discover only softness and skin. Bras were such a hassle. Not a birthday morning thing.

And the lip biting drew a smile from her.

He actually expected to find nothing but softness and skin this morning. She did like her comfort even if those boots seemed like a weird thing to wear when the rest of her all about comfort. He probably just didn't understand those boots enough.

Bod let her lip go after a moment and licked it before just taking a few moments to smile down at her and breathe. His hand didn't stop moving though, fully intent on feeling her up as much as he could before she left.

She still had a long time until she had to be anywhere, though she was intending to swing by the park before she left. But still. Time for him to feel her up as much as he liked, she wouldn't object.

He got a smile back. "Hi," she breathed.

"Hullo," he said, still smiling. "Was that a good, memorable birthday kiss?"

His hand had stopped just under one breast, fingers brushing the underside lazily.

Her hands were still for the moment, too, but her nails were still pressing down into his back.

"Yes," she replied. "It was a very good, very memorable birthday kiss."

"Are you sure?" he asked, ducking down to kiss her lightly again. "You were fully satisfied by that birthday kiss?"

"Mm, well, if you put it like that," she mumbled in reply, "maybe I wasn't. Always room for improvement."

"What sort of improvement do you think I need?" Bod asked, reaching down to kiss her again. "I thought that was a pretty brilliant kiss myself. It took my breath away."

"But you're not the one whose breath we should worry about, are you?" Nevermind that her breath had kind of been taken away too. "Less breath. More intensity. I think there should be dizziness."

"It sounds like you're saying that first one wasn't good enough for you," he said and gave her an exaggerated pout.

"Hey, you're the one who brought up the idea I might not be satisfied with it," she pointed out, snickering a bit. "I called it memorable, remember?"
