Yes, Kate had gone a little overboard with her drinking last night. She had also spent a good portion of today being glad that Bobby had already taken off for the weekend and that Bod was working at the library, so that no one had been around to interfere with her intense desire to just die.

But at least the party had been a success. An by the time evening came, she was feeling a little more functional. Once the headache and nausea had abated, she'd finally called home, just to chat about inconsequential stuff with her mom. Just to hear her voice, and make promises of coming to visit soon. She'd even made up an entirely fictional problem with their dorm room shower just so she'd had a reason to ask her mom to put her dad on the phone.

And after that, without considering it long, she'd left a voicemail for Bod. She'd only been outside the room once the whole day, to get food once she'd felt like she could keep it in, and having seen there were... island things happening again, she'd pretty much decided to keep to her room, probably for the majority of the weekend.

And right now that translated to leafing through an old issue of Cosmopolitan, because this was not the day for anything even remotely intelligent.

"Making out," she told him, lightly. "Other things too, if there are few enough people around."

"You would make out anywhere though," Bod pointed out teasingly before he leaned up to kiss her. "You're brave that way."

"I am," she argeed, muttering it against his lips. "But I might be even braver in the right company and circumstances."

"Well, I'm most definitely willing to be your company whenever you'd like," Bod assured her with a smile. "Anywhere you'd like too as long as it's not exceptionally dangerous."

"So no banging on the edge of a cliff?" she checked, teasing. "Bummer."

"Despite the obvious danger of that, I'd also be wary of the rocks that are usually contained on a cliff," Bod explained. "Ow."

"I would make you forget about those." She could say that and be smug about it because there was absolutely no intention to ever test that theory. "I'm spectacular."

"You definitely are but a rock digging into my knee or back would be quite painful," Bod pointed out. "You'd have to be very good."

"And when am I ever not?" She pouted at him. "Don't be so logical and realistic."

"I apologize," he said, laughing at that pout. "I will cease being logical and realistic from now on. No logic will dare enter my mind."

That was a lie.

"Sure," Kate snorted. "I think that's your most outlandish fantasy yet."

"You don't think I could do it?" Bod didn't even wait for her to answer before saying, "You're right, I couldn't so I'm not even going to try and say I could."

"Good boy," she agreed with a laugh. "You can just focus on fantasizing about lazy hammock days and library violations instead."

"I will," he promised and laughed. "I don't think anyone could stop me from fantasizing about things like that. And while library shenanigans is fun, I really think my favorite is the hammock fantasy."

"It's very you," Kate agreed with a slightly softer smile. "Quiet and easy and comfortable."

"Yes," he said and sighed. "And I really enjoy quiet moments where you can just be with someone else without interruptions, without burdens and without a care. It's just nice to be together and be warm and let yourself just full out love someone."

"Yeah." Just because Kate didn't often voice how much she liked it when things were like that, it didn't mean she didn't love it. "You know, we should go back to the lake at some point. Take a minivacation from the island."

"You mean the lake near my out of the way place?" Bod asked quietly, smiling up at her. "We can do that. I've a tent. We could just sleep near the lake for a few days."

"No, I mean another, entirely different lake," Kate teased him gently. "Of course that lake. I would really like that. You could read to me again."

"Of course we can do that," Bod assured her, nodding and smiling. "Of course. Whenever you'd like, in fact. The lake isn't going anywhere and there's time."

"Maybe we'll see about next weekend," Kate mused ~~unaware of potential plottishness, la la la~~. "I mean, seeing there's some island weird going on even right now, I'm kinda wanting to get off here, but. I can wait."

"Next weekend sounds good to me," he said, touching his fingers to her cheek and smiling. "I'll be sure my tent's in good condition in case of rain."

"Excellent," she replied, leaning into the touch. "And we'll take stuff to eat and read and... play and just hang out."

"That sounds like...an excellent date," he agreed, nodding. "I'm looking forward to it already."

"Yeah, me too," Kate sighed happily, scooting back just enough to rest her head against his chest and put soem more of her weight on him. "Should be pretty awesome."
