Somewhere in Maryland, Friday Evening

So, Kate and Bod had decided to get the hell off the island and away from the constant rain of future Japan. They'd packed some stuff, rented a car, and off they'd gone.

They were... somewhere in Maryland, now. Kate wasn't exactly sure where, and didn't particularly care, though maybe she should have, since she was currently driving and all. Maybe they'd know where they were going once they saw it.

She glanced over at Bod. "Can you try and find something good on the radio?" She was still too much of an old lady driver to start fiddling with the car stereo while they were in motion.

"Ooh, are we progressing to the actual dipping part now?" Kate teased as she took his hand and even stepped forward a bit. "Exciting."

"Unless you just wanted to stand here and get an all over tan?" Bod asked, tugging her backwards and more into the water.

Kate followed, splashing the water with her feet a little more than was strictly speaking necessary while she walked. "No, I'm good with being in the water. I'm definitely good with that."

"And I'll keep you warm should you get cold," he said, wading until he was up to his waist and could pull her closer to him. "You're so lovely."

"I know," she laughed, letting go of his hand only to slide her arms over his shoulders. "You keep telling me. Tell me again."

"You're so lovely," he said, smiling at her. It was a very, very nice sensation to feel her wet and naked against him in the water. "You're the loveliest thing I've ever seen."

"Are sure you haven't been walking with your eyes closed?" Kate teased while she leaned against him some more. "I'm sure that could happen."

"What difference would that make?" Bod asked, resting his cheek against hers. "Even if I had my eyes closed, I'd still see you."

"I more meant like you might have missed something lovelier," Kate clarified, chuckling quietly by his ear. "You haven't."

"I haven't," he agreed, hugging her closer and smiling. "There's nothing lovelier than you are, Cuddle Bunny."

"No," she agreed smugly, while one of her hands found its way to the back of his neck. "Except maybe you, Muffin. You're really pretty lovely too."

"Thank you," Bod said, laughing. "Am I skinny dipping correctly? Is this the right way?"

"Well, it's close enough for me," Kate decided, sliding her fingers into his hair. "I mean, you could maybe get yourself wet all over, but that might mean letting go of me."

[therewaslife]

"It would mean letting go of you," Bod said and then added, "unless we both went under together."

"Oh?" Kate smirked. "Is that something you'd like to try?"

[therewaslife]

Bod shrugged innocently. "Perhaps. I'm willing to try anything. I've no problem staying just like this if you'd rather but I can go under the water as well."

"I know you're willing to try anything," Kate murmured and yes, it totally sounded like innuendo. "I think you should try getting me wet."

And that was meant innocently. Mostly.

Bod let go of her with one of his hands and cupped some water before splashing it up onto her shoulders. "Just like that?"

Kate yelped, not really having expected that. "I was thinking more along the lines of getting all wet all at once."

[therewaslife]

"Very well," he said, getting a tighter hold on her before dropping down underneath the ocean's waves and taking her with him.

Kate made a sound, but had the good sense to keep from squealing in favor of holding her breath, because no one needed to be getting a lungful of water when they were trying to have fun.

She clung to him as he took her into water.

Bod spun them around a few times while they were underneath the water before he surfaces, shaking his hair out and grinning. He leaned forward to catch a quick kiss from her.

"How was that?"

[vanillajello]

"Excellent," Kate snickered, half into an ocean water flavored kiss. "I can barely see."

That had a lot to do with the way some of her wet hair had gotten plastered over her face.

Bod could help with that. He pushed some of her wet hair out of her face and behind her ears. "You have a lot of hair."

"I know, I should get it trimmed," Kate replied, smiling at him. "I'm starting to look like a hippie."
