Hawi, Hawaii, Thursday Morning

While Fandom sunk deeper into madness, strange things were afoot on another island too. Kate had snuck out of bed a bit earlier than necessary, and headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

... It was strange if you knew her.

She had the radio on at low volume, and was dancing around a bit in her well-worn Hola Gato pajamas as she made pancakes to be served with syrup. There was already some crispy bacon waiting on the counter, and an assortment of fruit. And Donkey Balls, because there was nothing like making your boyfriend blush over suggestively named confectionaries at breakfast. Especially after you'd already tormented him with them at the store the day before.

Kate was evil. But she was also making breakfast, so she supposed that evened itself out.

"So much," she echoed. "You too. And your lack of experience and your blushing and your boxers."

"Thank you," Bod murmured, laughing. "I apologize for putting pants on and taking those away from you."

"I left you in bed alone, then made you shower alone too," Kate pointed out with a chuckle. "I think we're even."

"We're even," he said and nuzzled the top of her head. "We're back on level ground. It's all all right."

"And together," she replied, sighing. "Do you think we could get a hammock in Fandom too? Ooh, or, maybe we could convince Char that we need one in the backyard?"

"Where would we put it on the island?" Bod wondered, stretching out and sighing. "I bet your aunt could be convinced. I'm sure telling her I'll cook and clean and shop for her for a month would be enough."

"But you're not gonna be there for a whole month, are you?" Kate teased. "Which means that'd mostly end up being me, doing all of that."

"Well, the month would obviously have to be broken up for when I am there," Bod said, nodding. "If I'm there for two days at a time, I owe her twenty eight more days of help. That sort of thing."

"You're so... logical," she snickered. "I have like, zero doubt that you'd actually do that."

[therewaslife]

"You shouldn't doubt me because I would absolutely do that," Bod said, smiling. "It would only be fair. If she let's us put up a hammock, I would do that."

"I doubt you'd have to," she said. "I mean, I don't think she'd be too strict about that kind of thing."

"Unless she wanted to practice for impending motherhood again," Bod pointed out with a laugh. "She might want to give that a try again."

"It's Charmaine," Kate said, as if that just said it all. "I doubt that."

[therewaslife]

"You don't think your aunt's going to be a good mum?" Bod wondered curiously. "Or just not a strict mum?"

[vanillajello]

"Not a strict mom," she replied. "The jury's gonna be out on that other thing until she actually has the baby."

[therewaslife]

"Well, she's got your mum and dad close by if she needs help," Bod said quietly, sighing. "And your brother and yourself will be around as well."

"And you," Kate added, tracing another heart. "Except I kinda wanna keep you all to myself."

[therewaslife]

"I'm not very good with children anyway and I might not be around as much as everyone else," he said, sighing quietly. "But, I'll help as much as I can or I'll stay away and just be for you."

"Just be for me," Kate replied. "I think you're actually pretty good with kids, but you can just be for me. You'll come visit and we'll just... lock ourselves up in our room."

"You don't think staying locked up in your room might draw some questions and comments?" Bod asked, laughing.

"Shush," Kate chided him. "I don't care about logical things like that. I would make you not care too."

[therewaslife]

"Oh?" Bod asked, glancing down at her. "And how would you make me not care?"

"Oh, I have my ways," Kate smirked up at him. "I have my body. Which you probably won't have seen in person for a while when you come to visit..."

"Oh god, I hadn't thought of that," he said and groaned just thinking about it. "Will you send me pictures?"

"Pictures like what?" she wondered, innocently. Or not. "Of my smiling face?"
