Hawi, Hawaii, Thursday Morning

While Fandom sunk deeper into madness, strange things were afoot on another island too. Kate had snuck out of bed a bit earlier than necessary, and headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

... It was strange if you knew her.

She had the radio on at low volume, and was dancing around a bit in her well-worn Hola Gato pajamas as she made pancakes to be served with syrup. There was already some crispy bacon waiting on the counter, and an assortment of fruit. And Donkey Balls, because there was nothing like making your boyfriend blush over suggestively named confectionaries at breakfast. Especially after you'd already tormented him with them at the store the day before.

Kate was evil. But she was also making breakfast, so she supposed that evened itself out.

It was always surprising when Kate woke up before him. It was even more surprising to find her side of the bed empty when he went to reach for her this morning. That bit of confusion woke him up slowly and he blinked around at the empty bedroom.

Still looking sleep mussed and not all the way awake, he stretched and scratched at his bare chest while he went to find her.

"Kate?" he mumbled, giving in to the need to yawn while he said her name. "Kate?"

"Morning," Kate called over her shoulder when she heard him. She flipped a pancake over. "I'm making breakfast!"

"Indeed you are," Bod remarked, letting the smells wake him up a little more now. He managed a sleepy smile at her excitement at making breakfast. "It smells excellent. You're up quite early."

"Yeah, well," she said, shrugging a shoulder. "I woke up, and then I got this random whim, so I had to get up."

Bod chuckled and yawned again. He leaned against one of the counters and watched her cook, arms crossed comfortably across his chest.

"You look happy."

"I am happy." So, that explained that. Kate fiddled with the pancakes for a moment, then glanced over. "You look sleepy."

Bod couldn't help smiling at both her declaration of happiness and her observation in regards to him. "Well, I just woke up after trying to reach for you for some early morning cuddles. I woke up quicker than usual. I could go shower and get myself completely awake."

"Or you could stay and be adorably sleepy at me," Kate replied with a chuckle. "And maybe shower later, but it's your choice. If you go, the breakfast will at least probably be ready when you get back. I'm sorry for cheating you out of your early morning cuddles."

"I can stay," he said and yawned again before rubbing his eyes and trying to comb his hair down into something neat with his fingers. "And I'm sure I'll be able to get some cuddling out of you at some point today. I'll make up for missing this morning."

"I'm sure you will," she smiled. "And who knows, maybe there'll be some combo deal on a shower and cuddling in store for you, too."

"Oooh, getting my hopes up," Bod joked, pushing away from the counter so he could kiss her cheek on the way to getting something to drink to better wake him up. "Your pajamas are very cute."

"Thank you, they're meant to be," Kate replied, smirking at him, as she moved pancakes from the pan onto a plate. "And I wouldn't want your hopes to ever be down."

Bod pulled some orange juice out of the refrigerator and poured himself a glass. He was more awake than asleep now which meant his sleepy adorableness would have to give way to regular adorableness.

"Can I help in anyway?" Bod asked, tilting his head at her. "Or should I just stay out of the way and let you do your thing?"

"I think the latter is the best option," she admitted with a little laugh. "I mean, I only have a few more pancakes to go. You can totally help by deciding where we're actually gonna have this breakfast, though."

"Outside," he said immediately. See, that had been a very easy choice. "There's plenty of space out on the porch and I don't see any rain anywhere nearby. So, outside?"

"Outside it is," Kate nodded, smiling a bit at how quickly he'd come to a decision. "If you just give me a mo' we can go there."

"Of course," he said, finishing up his orange juice and washing his glass. "I'll go put on a t-shirt and meet you out there?"

Kate very, very briefly pouted at him for the t-shirt thing oh so sadly, but didn't say anything about it, just nodded. "That works fine."

Bod paused when he caught that pout and frowned. "What's the matter? You just pouted at me."

Yes, of course he didn't realize why she might have pouted.

"No I didn't." She didn't bother making that sound the least bit convincing. "You're imagining things, boyfriend."

"Yes, you did and no I'm not," he said, chuckling. "Why did you pout at me? Was it something I said?"

"Yes." She snickered as she went to flip the pancakes over again. "Now you figure it out."

"That's not fair," Bod said, wandering over closer to her now. "I might not ever figure it out. You know me."

"I just told you it was something you said," Kate pointed out, giving him an amused look. "Honestly, if you can't ever figure it out, I might have to ditch you just because I don't think I can be with someone who can't remember a handful of things he's said in the last... ten minutes or so."

"Hmph," Bod said, flicking her nose with a finger before heading out of the kitchen to do what he had to do before breakfast was ready. That meant wandering back into the bedroom to at wash his face and put on a pair of trousers on over his boxers.
