Room 324, Sunday Morning

Uncharacteristically, Kate was awake first. Not that that meant much: it wasn't like she'd moved yet or anything. Why would she have, when she was all wrapped up in blankets with Bod and could just enjoy his body heat and his familiar smell and feel all right there, close to her?

... Well, actually, she could think of a reason. It just came to her, suddenly, something they'd talked about, something she'd put some thought into later. She was warm and happy and it seemed like as good a time as any, probably for those very reasons.

Trying to move as slowly and smoothly as she could, so as not to wake Bod up yet if she didn't have to, she reached to fumble the drawer of her bedside table open for a notebook she knew she had there.

"Oh, it was very much something," he said and kissed her cheek and nose this time. "I know that type of thing is hard for you so doing it for me makes me feel very special."

"You are special," she said. "I'm happy if I can make you feel that, too."

"You make me feel lots of things," he told her, smiling. "Special's just one of the many, many things you have the ability to make me feel."

"What are some of the others?" she asked, pressing a kiss on his cheek now. "Name a couple."

"Do you honestly not know or are you just wanting to hear me talk about you?" Bod asked, laughing and not really minding either way.

[vanillajello]

"Of course I'm just wanting to hear you talk about me," Kate replied with a quiet chuckle. "Or, more to the point, the things you feel that I cause you to feel. See, it's not entirely about me."

[therewaslife]

"Well," Bod said, sitting back some but keeping a hand of one of her hands, "you can make me feel warm and comforted. When we were just sleeping, that's what I felt. Even if I didn't need to be comforted, I knew you were there and that was comfort enough for me to sleep soundly."

"I know that feeling," Kate shared, smiling a bit. "I sleep so much better with you, it's ridiculous."

[therewaslife]

"The feeling is definitely mutual," Bod assured her. "You also make me feel silly? I don't know if that's quite the right word but I know I'm a serious person and you make me...laugh at myself. I need that."

[vanillajello]

"Well, you're ridiculous," Kate told him easily. "Quite often, actually. I feel it's my duty to make you realize that too. And you're really not that serious."

Well, not to her. He was just weird.

"Thank you," he said and laughed, "but compared to some people, I am serious. You make me feel...complete too. I don't really have a lot of family left and with you, I feel like that's all right because I have you. I can be totally open with you and you'll be all right with that."

That one made Kate a little more quiet. She looked down, half hiding a softer smile. "I'm okay with everything about you," she said. "And you have me. And I have you, which is good 'cause, y'know. I have kind of a limited number of people who actually know me."

"We have each other," Bod agreed with a smile that matched hers. "And I'm very glad to have you and know you. Thank you for trusting me with everything. Thank you."

Kate laughed a bit, moved and embarrassed about it. "Okay, now I feel ridiculous. You're welcome, I guess."

This was turning out to be rather a mushy morning.

To try and take some of her embarrassment away, Bod said, "You can also make me feel...exceptionally pleasurable. Exceptionally."

Kate laughed again, but for a different reason. "Reeeally?" she drawled, smirking. "I would never have guessed."

"Yes, really," Bod said, blushing now. "And you know it. You know it and you're confident about how well you do it."

[vanillajello]

"Well, yeah," she replied, a bit smugly "Though it's really because I've had time to practice with you. I know how you work."

[therewaslife]

"Yes, you do," he said and laughed. "And I'm glad for that. So, there's a few things you make me feel. I hope you liked them."

[vanillajello]

"I loved hearing them," she assured him, flopping down onto her back again. "I make you feel good stuff, of course I liked them."

"You do make me feel good," Bod said, draping an arm and a leg across her and moving closer to share her pillow. "Did you wake up early to do all this for me?"

[vanillajello]

"Not really," Kate replied as she turned her head more towards him. "I just woke up early, then got inspired to do this instead of trying to fall asleep again."

"So, I guess that means I don't have to lull you back to sleep, then," Bod said, smiling at her. "I was already making plans for that in case you needed it. But now, you can stay awake with me."

"I am wide awake," Kate assured him. "Sleeping with you was fun, but right now it's even more fun to actually be consciously aware you're here with me."

"So, what should we do instead?" Bod asked, rubbing a thumb up and down her side and smiling. "Should we have a quiet little chat about books?"
