Overland Park, KS, A Morning in May [Wednesday Fandom Time]

The stupid thing about going to Kansas was that time was much slower. Kate was painfully aware that while she'd already been gone from Fandom over two days, it had barely been 18 hours for her. Still, after a night at home, she was just about starting to feel a little less raw. The general nausea had abated, at least, as had the panic.

The guilt, however irrational she knew it to be, would probably stay for a while.

Stretching out on her bed, Kate reached to get her phone from the nightstand, then turned it on. For a moment, she thought about making a call – to Bod, to Jack, to Mitchell, to Hannibal, to anyone – but she decided against it, unable to really decide what it was she wanted to say to any one of them. (Except maybe Hannibal. There was a certain amount of I get it now present.) She put the phone down on the bed next to her.

She'd be available now; that'd have to be enough.

"Of course," Bod said agreeably. "I can get you anything you'd like. I'll even pick you something to eat since I know how much of a junk food fan you are. And, with the time difference, you won't even miss me."

"I'll still miss you," she murmured, slowly pulling away from him to head for her desk. "It just won't be for as long."

"I'll be back as soon as possible with clothing, food and whatever else you might want me to pick up," Bod promised. "You can even send me text messages while I'm on the island."

"You're really committed to this being here for me thing, aren't you?" Kate teased as she searched the desk for some paper. "You're an amazing boyfriend. Seriously."

"I'm committed to you and everything you might need that I can help with," Bod answered, nodding. "Thank you. I love being your boyfriend."

"You're so whipped," she snickered. "I love that you're my boyfriend too. And I love being your girlfriend even though I'm not sure I'm half as amazing as you are."

"You're amazing in a plethora of ways and those ways are just different than my ways," Bod assured her, nodding. "So, I love that you're my girlfriend too. You're lovely and amazing and I love you."

"I think I've heard something to that effect from you once or twice," Kate joked as she jotted down a few things on a piece of paper. "That's another first too. First guy to tell me he loves me so that I actually believe him."

"That's an excellent first to have," Bod said, smiling and feeling warm at that. "I'm glad you believe me because it's one hundred percent true."

"I believe you because I don't think you'd put up with me if you didn't." Sad logic, but logic all the same. "And both the first times you told me were pretty memorable."

Which had no bearing on how much she believed him, but amused her all the same.

"Both?" Bod asked, tilting his head. "I thought there could be only one first time."

"Oh, I'm counting the first one after we got back together as a first too," Kate explained. "'Cause it was a big deal."

"Oh."

Bod blushed a nice, vibrant shade of red there because he remembered when he'd said his first 'I love you' to her after they'd gotten back together.

Kate looked amused, and nodded at his blushing face.

"See? Memorable."

"Very memorable," Bod said and continued blushing. "Very -- yes, it was very memorable. I'm going to be blushing for the rest of the day."

"We'll just tell my parents your delicate English skin couldn't handle the May sun in Kansas," Kate replied, picking up the paper and coming closer to him again. "And I'll just be amused at you all day."

"I am very sensitive," he said, still feeling the warmth on his cheeks as she got closer. "You've got your list?"

"You are very sensitive," Kate replied, agreeably. "You can bone your girlfriend in a clothing store dressing room, but heaven forbid anyone allude to it afterwards." She held the paper out for him. "Yes, I've got my list."

It was just a bunch of clothing items (including a matching bra and panties set because she was evil), a notebook and Lennox Fitzherbert IV, the teddybear he'd won for her at the amusement park.

Her needs were simple.

Bod's cheeks flamed up at the mention of what they'd done in the dressing room and stayed that way when he saw he had to retrieve her undergarments for her.

"I..." He cleared his throat. "I can do this. There won't be any issue at all."

He'd probably sweat while he was getting her things. He was such a weirdo.

"Yeah, sure," Kate smirked, amused because yeah, she was sure he'd be weird about it. "Just try not to let your blushing overpower you, okay?"

"Shush," Bod chided, folding up her list and tucking it into his pocket. "I'll be fine and you will soon have all your requested items, blushing or not. Would you like to walk me down to the portal?"

"Just a sec." Kate moved towards her desk again, where a dress was folded across the back of a chair, and pulled her top off. Yes, he got treated to a very brief sideview of her braless self before she slipped the light dress on over her head. "More street appropriate."

Very brief looks were still treasured and his blush reappeared without prompting. He was smiling and reaching a hand out for hers after she'd gotten a dress on.

"You look lovely." She always did.

Kate smirked as she took his hand and tugged him towards the door. "Are you gonna tell me you love my boobs, again?"

Sorry, Bod, but teasing was fun.

"I'm very glad no one's home right now and couldn't possibly hear that," he said, following behind her. "Your brother would just give you a look, your father would throw me out of a window and your mother...would give you a look too but a different look than your brother's."
