Again.

Also, November 1st, 2011. Bod's 18th birthday.

Interdimensional time differences were a pain in the ass, but occasionally they produced fun coincidences like a once-in-a-lifetime joint birthday, and that was why Bod had been invited over to Kansas today.

There'd been much cheer earlier from the Gregsons and their assorted posse, and there'd more family partying later, probably (in her honor, not his). But for now, the outsiders had cleared off to do other stuff, mostly to give Kate and Bod some time alone, and so alone they were, in the kitchen of Charmaine's house, with a birthday cake that was missing whatever pieces her family had already eaten. And Kate was currently adding '+ Bod' at the end of the original 'Happy Birthday Kate' in icing. "Look, I'm making you a birthday cake!"

"What, how?" Kate asked, laughing and tugging on his hand a bit. "For wanting to have a little fake firefly moonlighting while I innocently spend time with my boyfriend? Honestly, I can't do anything without seeming evil to you."

Or maybe she was lying.

"While you might have been thinking of using my fake firefly moonlight container, I know what else you were thinking," he said, following behind her and shaking his head. "You can't fool me, Kate Gregson."

"Is that so?" Kate asked, glancing back at him over her shoulder. "Then tell me, Nobody Owens, if you know my thought so well, what else was I thinking?"

"You want to use the...naughty present," he said and brought the handcuffs up into her view. "I know you do. You can't fool me."

Kate snickered. "I could've totally just wanted to cuddle in fake firefly light, you know."

"Yes, but do you?" Bod had to ask. "Is that what you'd like to do on my birthday and your second birthday?"

"Of course not!" Kate exclaimed, laughing. "No, I would much rather lament the fact that I'm not sure our poor little sofabed really has any good place to affix handcuffs to."

"Does that mean it's time to think about purchasing a new bed?" he wondered.

She snickered and glanced back at him again, though only once she'd already climbed the last step. No one needed to fall. "I've corrupted you so bad."

"It's a logical question!" Bod exclaimed, laughing. "You pointed out a flaw in the bed and I suggested a resolution."

"Yeah but it's my doing that you view the lack of a handcuff-friendly headboard as a flaw," Kate retorted cheerfully. "I'll take credit for that."

Bod just laughed because she would take credit for that. He shook his head and laughed. "Fine, fine, I'll admit that you've corrupted me somewhat. It's not total though."

"I know, I know," she replied as she led him into their room. "But it's there, and that's all that counts."

"Yes, it's there," he said and laughed. "Don't share that with anyone else though. They might get jealous and want you to share your corruption with them as well."

"Oh, they can get jealous all they want." She closed the door with her free hand. "My corruption is all yours, and no one else's. There's no one else I would rather handcuff to my bed, or vice versa, after all."

"Yes well, I have no idea how to really go about that so hopefully you're willing to be patient when it comes to...handcuffs," he said and blushed at saying the name.

"See, that alone is proof that my corruption isn't complete," Kate replied, grinning at that blush. "You can't say the word without going red."

[therewaslife]

"You can just add it to the list of many words I can't say without blushing," Bod pointed out, shaking his head. "I'm sure you could fill a notebook with said words."

"A pamphlet, at the very least," she replied. "You blush at many words, Bod m'dear. And yet you still do the things associated with those words."

[therewaslife]

"I know, I know," he said and blushed at being called on that. "I can't explain it and I don't even want to try. It's strange because I am."

"It's adorable because you are," Kate corrected. "I think you should take your shirt off."

Was that directly connected to her previous statement? Not really but she didn't care.

"That's quite the segue, girlfriend," Bod said, gently putting his gifts down so he could unbutton his shirt and slide out of it. He draped the shirt nearby as well.

"I don't give a fuck about segues, boyfriend." She felt the same way about eloquence, apparently. Whatever, she was totally leering at him right now. "I'm more interested in getting you to do what I want."

"What you want?" Bod asked, rubbing one of his arms lightly. "What do you want me to do?"

"Well, just now I wanted you to take your shirt off," Kate pointed out, as she reached out to put her hands on his shoulders. "And see, that workedout spectacularly well."
