Overland Park, KS, Friday Morning (September)

Six plus six was twelve, and twelve was the same as one, if you were talking about months first and then switched to years. The bottom line was, Kate and Bod had now been an item for a whole year in total. (There really was no need to talk about that four month gap between the first and second six month stretches. Because that was just a really fucking depressing topic all around.) And that was a huge fucking deal.

Enough of a huge fucking deal for it to be the first thing Kate become conscious of as she woke up this morning, all warm and tangled up with Bod, in their bed, in their room, just like they had been every night for the past week or so. That alone would've made her happy, but remembering the anniversary made her doubly so.

So, as much as it saddened her to do it, she tried slowly disentangling herself from her pale, pale boyfriend, so she'd be able to slip out of bed in her panda-print tunic. There was something she wanted to get from downstairs.

"You're too busy to think about things like me?" Bod asked, deliberately misunderstanding. "How sad!"

Kate bit his neck a little bit more sharply, though not hard enough to leave a mark "Smartass," she murmured, then licked over the bit of skin she'd just bitten.

Bod hissed and pressed his hand a little more firmly against her back. "If you're calling me that then you truly are a bad influence on me since I wasn't always a...that."

Kate's lips trailed a little lower before she nipped at his skin again. "No, I bet you were."

"I wasn't," he said, shaking his head. "You can ask any of the ghosts I knew back in the graveyard. I was a very nice boy with an occasional rebellious streak. That's all."

"Don't argue with me," she chided him lightly. "You're a smartass if I say so."

It wasn't particularly sound logic but she squirmed again. That ought to help him forget.

"Why can't I argue with you?" Bod wondered, leaning forward and giving her lower lip a nip. "You can argue with me but I can't argue with you?"

"Time and a place for arguing," Kate murmured against his lips. "I don't think this is it. So... I shouldn't argue with you either. Don't use that against me."

"And are you going to stop me from using that against you?" Bod asked, smiling at her. "Make me, Kate Gregson. Make me."

"Ooh, full name taunting, someone means busines," Kate smirked. "Fine, then, Bod Owens. I will."

For right now, that meant... moving off his lap and getting to her feet. Huh.

"Where are you going?" Bod asked, frowning at her. "You're teasing me."

[vanillajello]

"Well, would you look at that? It appears I am!" She smirked again, and hooked her thumbs under the waistband of her underwear. "Funny how that happens."

"Mean," Bod said, still frowning. "You're mean and awful and you make me sad. What am I supposed to do now?"

"Strip," Kate replied, trying not to snicker at his frowning. "And watch."

Not that she was doing anything particularly interesting, yet.

"I'm watching," he told her, nodding. His attention was all on her. "I'm watching you and nothing else."

"You are so easy," Kate chuckled. She pushed her underwear down a little bit, over her hipbones. "So, so easy."

"I just love you," he said, eyes flicking up to hers. "Does that make me easy or just in love?"

[vanillajello]

"The fact that you love me is what makes you easy," she retorted with a little pose and a smile. "So, technically it's both."

[therewaslife]

"Does that mean you're easy too since you love me?" Bod wondered, smiling widely at that pose. He could feel his heartbeat pick up just from the sight alone.

Kate struck a few more coquettish poses. She'd been looking at far too many old school pin-up model pictures lately. It was showing. But she knew she looked cute doing it. Plus, she was barely wearing anything and like she'd already noted, he was easy.

"Well, I guess it does."

He was very, very easy and right now, he was enjoying what he was seeing.

"That's good." He was also proving his eloquence right now. "That's...very, very good. Yes."

She laughed, because she couldn't not. "Wow, that was deep," she said. "Is it just gonna get worse if I do this?"

'This' meaning pushing her underwear all the way down her skinny legs.

"I am not the only one who babbles at the sight of the other person being naked," Bod pointed out, wetting his lips and watching the journey of those underwear down her legs.

[vanillajello]

"Hey, at least you need to do something before I babble," Kate replied. She wasn't going to try claiming she never babbled at all, no. Waste of time.

She kicked the underwear aside. "You look great naked, which is totally a hint, but it's not enough for me to babble."

"It's a hint?" Bod raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "Maybe I won't take your hint since you're being mean."

In her own way, she was being mean. He thought so!
