Today, at least in the multiversal timezone Fandom was in, was Valentine's Day. And not only that, it had also been ten months to the day since a boy from England and a girl from Kansas had woken up together and decided they really rather wanted to go back to being boyfriend and girlfriend. Their first attempt at that had only lasted six months and change, so ten months was kind of a huge deal. So they were celebrating.

In Kansas.

Hey, at least it was in Topeka and not KCMO! Kate had never been, and it was actually turning out to be pretty okay. Or maybe that was the company. They had the hot tub suite booked for later at Senate Luxury Suites, but right now they were still at Gage Park, in the Reinisch Rose Garden. It was fall in Kansas, as evidenced by the leather jacket Kate had on over her dress, but since the garden over six thousand bushes of more than four hundred varieties of roses, some of them were still in bloom, and it was pretty enough for her.

She was all smiles, carrying her bag in one hand and holding one of Bod's with the other as they strolled along. "This pretty gorgeous for Kansas, don't you think?"

"This is amazing," Bod said, looking around in wonder. "This was an excellent choice for an outing on an anniversary. I've never really seen anything like this before."

"I know, right?" she replied, smiling at him. "I would've thought the roses would be long gone by now, but apparently not. Sometimes this Valentine's Day slash anniversary thing in another universe pays off."

"I'm glad you're able to keep up with the dates in Kansas because I know I sure can't," he laughed, shaking his head. "I'm completely lost but I suppose you're used to it by now as well."

"I don't know, I still get confused kind of a lot," Kate admitted with a laugh. "I mean, the time difference just keeps switching like a demented time yo-yo. But I've been hanging on to the important dates."

"So, ten months, hmm?" Bod said, bringing her hand up to his lips so he could kiss her fingers. "I guess that makes this quite serious."

Honestly, it'd been serious for him from the start of their second chance.

He really wasn't alone in thinking that. "Guess it does," she agreed, smiling at that kiss. "Though I guess we might've already crossed that line with the bling. At the latest."

"The bling?" Bod repeated, looking down at his hand. "I think yours is a little...blingier than mine."

"Well, maybe a little," she snickered, glancing down at her own hand. "But it's more just a word for, you know, jewelry in general. I don't know how blingy it actually has to be."

"I don't know either, obviously," Bod said, smiling over at her. "I think it's a perfect ring for a perfect girl and I'm still glad you accepted it."

"That may have been the cupcakes," Kate teased, remembering when he'd decided to give her a ring. "They were pretty fucking tasty."

Bod chuckled and pulled her closer so he could slip his arm over her shoulders. "So, my ring was contingent upon the cupcakes? How interesting. Without the cupcakes, you might not have accepted? The truth is revealed!"

He was teasing too.

"Yeah, I'm sorry," Kate snickered, happily leaning against his side as they walked. "The cupcakes sealed the deal. The fact that I was totally crazy in love with you and totally thrilled to wear something you gave me had nothing to do with it."

Bod laughed and kissed the side of her head again, sighing. "Are you still totally crazy in love with me, then?"

"Ever crazier, Odd Bod," she told him. "Butt crazy, and other terms like that."

"So, maybe that means I don't need to give you your anniversary gift," he teased, smiling over at her. "I don't need to convince you to love me more."

He'd be giving her that small gift anyway, of course.

"Gift?" Kate replied, feigning surprise. "You got me a gift? I didn't get you a gift!"

Liar.

"Of course I got you a gift," Bod said, laughing. "I try to get you gifts for every anniversary. It's imperative."

"Imperative?" She gave his side a little nudge. "Well, I guess it might be. I got you something too."

"Did you?" He smiled and felt pleased by that. "Would you like to go first?"

"Well, I suppose it'll free up some space in my bag," Kate joked, even though her bag did actually look pretty full. She opened it and wrangled out a less than neatly wrapped package. It was hard to put paper on things that were soft and wrapped up as tightly as possible so they'd fit in her bag, okay?

The contents of said gift were soft and grey and likely to amuse Kate.

"Admittedly," she said as she handed it over, "my decision to buy that may have been influenced by wanting to make you wear that before I steal it from you. Happy ten-month anniversary. And Valentine's Day."

Bod took his arm from around her and opened the gift. When he had it pulled out, he started laughing and shook his head.

"So, this is really a gift for the both of us, yes?" Bod asked, smiling at her. "Thank you, Kate. Thank you, Cuddle Bunny."

"You're welcome, my beloved English Muffin," Kate replied, smiling back at him, pleased that she'd gotten a laugh out of him. "And, yeah. 'Cause it's comfy as hell ––" Yes, she'd tested. "–– so you shouldn't hate wearing it, and it'll look cute on you, and then I can borrow it and it'll smell like you."

Win-win! Though she felt like she might've won especially much in that equation.

Chuckling again, Bod draped the new piece of clothing over his arm before taking out a long, thin case.

He handed it to her and ignore the price tag omg said, "For you, on our anniversary."

"More jewelry?" Kate asked, smirking, as she took the box. "Ooh."

Of course, as soon as she'd actually opened the case, her eyes widened and she beamed at him.

"Oh my God, it's gorgeous and totally not Jeremy Darling levels of expensive! And it matches my ring, awww."

"That's why I got it," Bod admitted, smiling. "I thought it'd look professional while you work but beautiful for when you're not. I don't know your dress code but I was hopeful."
