Room 324, Late Thursday Morning

"-- So then what? ...Oh, oh, like in that movie? You know. ...What do you mean, you don't? We watched it like three times in a row last spring when I had the-- Yes. That one. With the guy with the hair and the--"

Back in Overland Park, T was out, for some reason or other.

It meant that here in Fandom, Kate was sprawled on her bed with her phone clamped to her ear, getting updated on the stupid things morning television had to offer, and the things T would've liked to do later in the day if she wouldn't have been likely to be too lazy and too high to leave the house.

Kate was snickering a lot. "... Eww, T, that's disgusting."

There were worse ways to spend a morning.

"Hmm." Kate pursed her lips, trying her best not to grin at him getting closer. "Maybe I should tell you a secret. It's totally a massively huge secret, and you can't tell anyone if I tell you."

It was about the least secret secret she could think of right now.

"I won't tell anyone," he said sincerely, nodding. "I promise. Whatever you tell me won't go beyond this room."

"There's a slight possibility that I maybe might not actually want you to leave," she told him in a stage whisper, nodding gravely.

"As much as it pains me to admit it."

"Interesting," Bod said, pursing his lips and nodding back. "What should I be doing instead of leaving?"

"You're the one who insisted that you were feeling things, earlier," Kate pointed out. "So maybe you should experiment. See if there's more of these reactions you claimed to notice."

[therewaslife]

"I did feel things," he insisted, finally smiling because he knew what he felt under his fingers. And he'd just see what else he could do by sliding his hand down lower on her hips, keeping his eyes on hers as he did.

"And I'm more than happy to see if I could find some more," he agreed, slipping his hand back across her stomach, barely touching her shirt as he did before adding a little more pressure.

There were many reactions to be observed. The smirk on her face, and the involuntary tensing of her muscles under his hand, and the slight unevenness of her breathing, and--

"Nope, nothing."

Kate had a very special definition of nothing.

Or a habit of arguing about things where there was really no room for argument. Either of those.

"You're not a very good liar," said Bod, shaking his head and ducking his head to glance down at his fingers. "But, if you'd like to keep up the charade..."

Bod would just move his hand. He skimmed said hand up her side, watching as he did before lightly covering the spot above her heart with his hand.

"I'm an excellent liar when it counts," Kate returned, although it took her quite a lot of concentration to get the words out of her mouth and sounding easy and relaxed and not at all distracted.

Which she was. Among other things, by having to remember to breathe.

"So, why are you lying now when you know I can feel your reactions?" asked Bod, pressing down against her skin and stroking his fingers back and forth as he did. "You should know I'm fairly good at observing things."

"Maybe that's exactly why I'm doing it," Kate said, her eyes fixed on him, her fingertips brushing idly against the back of his neck again. "Because I know you'll know it's not true. It's almost a game."

[therewaslife]

"Hm. I should make you try next," he said, slowly moving his hand away only to duck his head down, lips just above the spot his hand had been. He kept himself there, only letting the tips of his hair touch her shirt.

"And you could see if I lie too," he said quietly. "I don't think I'll be good at this game."

"I could make you blush in five seconds," she replied, not bothering with trying to not sound distracted. Not with him close like that. "No way you could even try denying that."

"Perhaps," he said, directing the words more at her shirt than at her. He smirked, taking a little bit of triumph out of the distraction in her voice. "Perhaps not. You haven't even tried. Right now, I can deny it because you haven't."

"Mm, I guess so," she said, moving her hand to drag a fingertip along the edge of his ear, then back down to his neck. "I don't think denying it right now counts, though."

"Why not?" he wondered, flicking his eyes back up at her before going back to what he was doing. Hovering, though, could only suffice for so long before he was actually dropping his lips to rest against her shirt very, very lightly.

It wasn't so much a kiss though it could have been mistaken for that.

Kate drew in a rather sharp breath before answering. "Like you said. I haven't tried it. No point in denying possible effects yet."

"I heard that," he mumbled against her shirt, grinning. "I might not be making you blush but you're definitely not bored."

"Maybe I am easy to entertain, after all," she retorted, slipping her fingers into his hair. "Difficult to make blush, though."

It usually involved either embarrassing her or making her angry. Neither were advisable.

"I'm not really trying to make you blush though," he said, leaning up into her hands a bit. That was new and nice and Bod paused a minute to enjoy it.

"Just react," he told her, moving up until his lips weren't near her heart anymore. Now, they were more near her lips where he could talk and she could feel it again. "I think I'm doing all right there."

"Yes, you are," she agreed, grinning a little. Resisting the urge to just kiss him. Her fingers played with his hair. "Although I guess I should probably lie about it for the sake of being consistent."

"I wouldn't believe you anyway," he told her, shaking his head. "It's interesting, I've only touched you in a few places and you've reacted every time. Perhaps you're just overly sensitive?"

Her turn to shake her head, pursing her lips. "I'm not."

"You're something," he said, ducking down almost kiss her again before stopping himself. "Perhaps I just don't have the word yet."

"I'm Kate," she replied, enunciating her words carefully, lips brushing against his. Not kissing. Talking. "I think that will have to do."
