Hawi, Hawaii, Sunday Early Evening

One of the good things about living in Fandom was getting to use Portalocity. So, when an obnoxious dude happened to stumble upon incriminating videos of a dark part of your life you would have rather buried and never thought about again, and you ended up punching him in his stupid face, and then found yourself anxious to get off the island because it was making you feel pukey and bad... You could hit up Portalocity for a package deal on portals to a cottage in Hawaii.

Kate had portalled out ahead to set some stuff up in advance before Bod got there. Those things included mundane stuff like getting groceries, but also special things like a hammock fit for two between two trees in the yard. It was important to have one. Right now, it was.

And there were one or two other things as well. Since the portal was not too far from the cottage, Kate had just texted Bod the address and a picture of the building, and was waiting for him on the kitchen, wearing the dress she'd not gone to a party in not too much earlier. She was resting her elbows on the railing, and beside her there were an empty jar, and a quickly made sign that said 'KISSING BOOTH'. Because she was a dork.

A dork who really, really felt like she needed to be with her boyfriend right now.

"Well, I suppose you could offer an opinion," she mused. "What's your take on a tank top and some shorts?"

"I think it sounds like lovely hammock attire," Bod said, nodding. "It's light and loose and you'll be able to enjoy the sun."

"And you can enjoy the sight of my limbs that you love so much," Kate retorted. "Not that that would be much of a problem even if I just kept wearing this dress."

Seeing as it was strapless and pretty short.

"Indeed," he said, rubbing a hand over his back before moving to retrieve his own bag. "While you change, I'll do the same. I should get into something lighter and looser."

"You do that."

Kate was already doing that. What, it wasn't like she had any reason to wait before unzipping her dress and pulling it off over her head.

Bod had seen everything before so there wasn't a need for privacy really. He took a cue from her and toed off his shoes and socks so he could shimmy out of his jeans and out of his shirt.

He went for a soft pair of shorts and a loose white t-shirt so he wouldn't get too hot under the sun. He left the sunglasses on and brushed a few fingers back through his hair.

Kate, for her part, pulled on a bright yellow tank top and a pair of tiny but loose shorts, while flipflops and sunglasses completed the look.

"So," she said, smiling at him. "Drinks, next? There's lots of different juices and soda and stuff in the kitchen."

Also a bottle of champagne in a cooler on the counter.

"Drinks next," he said, nodding. "Lead the way, girlfriend. I'll carry everything out to the hammock."

Kate led him to the kitchen, then went to the fridge and opened it, idly ignoring the champagne. On purpose.

"So... What might we want?" she asked, gesturing at the fridge. It was pretty full of food, and the drink selection was all random exotic juices and Cherry Coke and who knew what else.

"Wow, you were quite busy while I wasn't here," he said, reaching out and laying a light hand on her shoulder.

There had been something about her demeanor back on the island, something that told him something had happened and he was trying to touch her as much as he could to just silently reassure her.

"Do you have anything with pineapples in there?" he asked, peering inside. "I like pineapples."

The way Kate leaned into his touch may have suggested some need for that reassurance, too.

"Pineapple juice," she said, pointing the container out. "Also, another one with both pineapple and orange."

"Oooh, I'll try the pineapple and orange juice," Bod decided easily. "That's not a flavor combination I've had before so let's go with that."

"Okay," she nodded, reaching out to grab the juice, then another one. "As for me, I want this mango one."

Bod reached out to take the juice from her so he could carry them and then leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Shall we go to the hammock now?"

Kate glanced at the champagne bottle like she was considering something, then nodded at him. "Yes, I think we shall."

Bod followed her gaze and eyed the champagne bottle before he looked back at her. "Is that for a later occasion?'

"I... think so?" she offered, then chuckled a bit at her own indecision. "That's what I was wondering myself, actually."

"Would you like to have it now?" Bod asked, curious now. "We can. Neither of us are going anywhere right away so we could."

"But what about the special occasion?" Kate teased, using that to mask the fact that she suddenly felt a bit nervous, even if it was in a kind of a good way. "Should we have that now too?"

Bod was very, very curious about this now. And while he was never one to rush or be impatient, he couldn't help it right now.

"I think we should," he decided, "or I'm going to be coming up with scenarios in my head until we do."

"And then nothing I have planned can live up to the things you've imagined," Kate remarked with a snicker. "Okay, well, wait here while I go get something from my bag, okay?"

"Of course," Bod replied, nodding and smiling. "The juice and I will be waiting right here until you return. I won't even drink anything prematurely."

Kate snorted. "I won't be gone for long enough, anyway."

She was gone for a bit, though, going through her bag to find what she wanted. When she came back, she was holding it behind her back.

Nervous or not, she could still be a tease.

"You seem to have come back without your arms," Bod said playfully, chuckling. "Is an armless you the special occasion?"

"Clearly," she joked with a chuckle. "Don't you like it?"
