Overland Park, KS, Friday Morning (September)

Six plus six was twelve, and twelve was the same as one, if you were talking about months first and then switched to years. The bottom line was, Kate and Bod had now been an item for a whole year in total. (There really was no need to talk about that four month gap between the first and second six month stretches. Because that was just a really fucking depressing topic all around.) And that was a huge fucking deal.

Enough of a huge fucking deal for it to be the first thing Kate become conscious of as she woke up this morning, all warm and tangled up with Bod, in their bed, in their room, just like they had been every night for the past week or so. That alone would've made her happy, but remembering the anniversary made her doubly so.

So, as much as it saddened her to do it, she tried slowly disentangling herself from her pale, pale boyfriend, so she'd be able to slip out of bed in her panda-print tunic. There was something she wanted to get from downstairs.

"I know you do," he said, rubbing his cheek against hers and closing his eyes. "You see me. You're the only one who really does."

"Yeah well, everyone else is an idiot," she decided. "I know you used to Fade or whatever, but seriously, it's so obvious to me that you're worth really looking at."

"Are you attempting to make me blush a bright shade of red?" Bod wondered, amused. "You're succeeding."

"Well I get to reap the benefits of it so rarely these days," Kate replied, and rubbed her cheek against his blushing one, as if to demonstrate her point. "I miss it."

[therewaslife]

"Of all the things to miss about me, you pick my blushing?" he asked, laughing. "And you call me strange?"

"Hey, I didn't say it was the only thing," Kate protested with a chuckle. "Besides, you've always known I'm way too into your blushing."

"And that is strange!" Bod exclaimed, shaking his head. "It's very strange, Kate, dearest."

[vanillajello]

"Fuck you," she murmured, so very eloquently. "I'm allowed to be attracted to your blushing. It makes you look sweet. Sweeter than you are, in some cases."

"I'm very sweet," he said, shifting around so he could kiss her. "I'm very, very sweet. It's not nice to use bad language like that."

He didn't mind it at all.

"No, fuck you and fuck your hopes for nicer language," Kate retorted. Between a few quick kisses. "You like my bad language."

"How do you know?" Bod asked before kissing her again. "That's quite the assumption."

He actually remembered telling her that but he wasn't going to make it so easy on her.

"I've talked in this way since you met me," Kate pointed out. "Either you like it or you're some sort of a... a pervy linguistic masochist."

"Pervy linguistic masochist?" Bod repeated, blinking. "Do those even really exist?"

"You tell me," she replied without missing a beat. "You're the one that's being suspected of being one!"

[therewaslife]

"I don't know what the actual definition of one of those is so how am I to label myself as one?" Bod retorted.

"Which one are you having trouble with?" she asked, with another kiss. "Linguistic? I bet it's that one."

Probably not.

"That's not the one," he murmured against her lips. "I know what linguistic means. My education has been good for something after all."

[vanillajello]

"Yeah but not good enough to teach you the meaning of pervy." She was pretty sure it was that one. "Right?"

[therewaslife]

"Correct," Bod said, nodding. "I have an idea of the definition but I don't qualify as one of those, do I?"

[vanillajello]

"Probably not," Kate relented. "Regardless, you love the way I talk. Admit it."

[therewaslife]

"I love the way you talk," he said obediently. "I think I've told you as much before. I could listen to you talk for hours, I really could."

"And I didn't even have to offer to take my shirt off." Her shirt with pandas on it, even. Because pandas were awesome. "You are so whipped, you really are."

[therewaslife]

"Was I supposed to try and coerce you into taking your shirt off?" Bod wondered, amused. He wouldn't argue with the whipped part. "I thought you might do that anyway."

"How presumptuous," Kate tsked, jokingly. "I'm a lady. Ladies don't just randomly strip."

Good thing she wasn't really a lady, then.

"You might be a lady but you do randomly strip for me," Bod said, smiling at her. "I know you do."
