Somewhere in Maryland, Friday Evening

So, Kate and Bod had decided to get the hell off the island and away from the constant rain of future Japan. They'd packed some stuff, rented a car, and off they'd gone.

They were... somewhere in Maryland, now. Kate wasn't exactly sure where, and didn't particularly care, though maybe she should have, since she was currently driving and all. Maybe they'd know where they were going once they saw it.

She glanced over at Bod. "Can you try and find something good on the radio?" She was still too much of an old lady driver to start fiddling with the car stereo while they were in motion.

"What sort of jokes could come from pitching a tent?" Bod wondered. "There's nothing inappropriate about that."

"Oh my God!" Kate exclaimed, laughing. "I can't believe I keep forgetting how amazingly non-dirty your mind is." She shook her head. "Okay. Like, when you're in your boxers and you get a boner, and it starts, y'know, tenting the fabric?"

"That's what you think about when I'm pitching a tent?" Bod asked and that previously light blush deepened. "...how am I supposed to put up our tent now without thinking that?"

"Is the thought going to distract you so badly you won't be able to use your hands?" Kate wondered. "If not, I think you'll do just fine."

"The thought might not but I bet you could do a very nice job of distracting me on my own," Bod said, shaking his head. "You're quite good at that."

"Of course I am," Kate replied smugly. "But I swear you could just take it as encouragement to get the tent ready to go for any and all activities that might occur within..."

"Well, before anything happens inside, I have to build a fire and perhaps walk along on the beach and collect seashells and maybe watch the sunset," Bod teased. One of those he planned on doing. The rest, he could give or take.

Kate snorted and rolled her eyes. "The fire and the sunset sound nice."

Actually, all of it did.

"You'd like to watch the sunset with me?" Bod asked, gesturing toward the exit they needed to take to get to the park. "I'd like that too."

"Maybe," Kate replied, going for a coy tone, as she took the turn. "Could be nice."

"It would be romantic," Bod corrected, smiling over at her. "Are you sure you'd like to let loose your romantic side, Kate?"

Kate gave him an amused glance. "You make it sound like its some great beast that needs to kept locked up in a cage."

"It's not?" Bod teased, gesturing for her to make the next right. "I always assumed it was."

"Thanks," she said, for the guidance not the comments. "Yes, my romantic side's totally a great big panther that'll swallow you whole if you're not careful."

"I'll be careful with that infrequently used romantic side," Bod said and pointed to the entrance up ahead. "There we are! See, it wasn't too hard to find at all. We're here."

"Whohoo!" Kate replied, in lieu of throwing up her hands with joy because hi, driving. "Now all we have to do is get this thing parked before setting off to conquer a spot of beach."

"I think we just check in at the main gate to pay for a camping site for the night and then we can park and walk," Bod advised. He fished his wallet out of his pocket and passed it to her. "You can use what's in there."

"So gentlemanly," Kate murmured softly, smiling as she took the wallet.

And sure enough, it worked out like he'd said. She paid at the gate, and it wasn't long at all before she was parking the car without any major drama or difficulty.

Bod climbed out of the car and circled back to the trunk, waiting for her to open it so he could get their bags and the tent before heading towards their campsite.

"It's nice and quiet out here."

Kate popped the trunk and gathered what few possessions she'd already managed to litter around herself, before climbing out of the car too. "Yeah well, it won't be for long now that I'm here."

"Are you planning on screaming and shouting?" Bod asked, reaching in to get his bag, her bag and the tent. "Or are you going to make other loud noises?"

"I was just referring to how I'm generally kind of loud," Kate replied, laughing, as she locked the car doors. "But I can totally think of a few specific sounds I might be making later."

"Such as?" Bod prompted, hefting their bags onto his shoulders and grabbing the tent before starting off towards the beach and their assigned site.

[vanillajello]

"Laughing," she teased, easily following along beside him. "But also moaning. Maybe screaming, but good screaming."

"You'd better hope that we don't have any nearby neighbors," Bod laughed, shaking his head. "They might wonder about all the noises they're hearing."
